Pizzazz-less buns, flair-lacking toppings, and panache-free patties are a thing of the past at The Counter, where you build your own burger from the artisan bun up. With vegan and vegetarian options, locally sourced ingredients, and meats you can be confident aren't pumped full of hormones, The Counter can satisfy your quality-burger cravings. Today's Groupon delivers complete order freedom with $35 worth of premium burger-building action for only $15.

Get down to burger-erecting business in the pale blue and silver colors of The Counter's sleek, industrial decor. Beneath the glowing orbs of light that dangle from the ceiling, you will be furnished a detailed clipboard with menu attached. Choose from more than 312,120 possible combinations of ingredients. Start with one of 4 proteins including certified raised and handled vegetarian-raised beef, 100% natural ground turkey and grilled chicken breast, or our vegan veggie burgers made in-house from 11 different vegetables. Decorate your protein with an impressive array of 10 cheeses, including danish blue cheese, horseradish cheddar and gruyere and top your Burger with any of our 28 toppings such as grilled pineapple, honey-cured bacon, homemade guacamole. Compliment your creation with any of our 18 sauces including garlic aioli and horeradish mayo and select a solid foundation of an English muffin, a regular or honey-wheat hamburger bun, or a bowl sans bun.

If you're overwhelmed by choice, go with one of The Counter's signature burgers, like the unique veggie (a veggie patty with mixed baby greens, roasted red peppers, sprouts, onion, and dijon balsamic dressing) or try the burger of the month (this month's features crab cakes topped with bacon coleslaw, tomatoes, red onion, and lettuce, served on bun with lemon-basil tartar sauce). Hand-spun shakes and sweet potato fries round out the meal. If you're not drooling yet, check out the video on The Counter's website.

Reviews

The Counter's original Santa Monica location was hailed one of The 20 Hamburgers You Must Eat Before You Die by GQ. Yelpers give Colorado's counter 3.5 stars:

  • The burger itself is tasty, but there are so many customized options...makes for fun choosing. Make sure to get the sweet potato fries. Positively addictive. I've been several times and have always had excellent service. – Amy R.
  • I think my favorite part of the Counter is that no matter what mood you are in you can cater your food to that taste. In the mood for something spicy? Get some salsa on it. BBQ? Lather it with BBQ and cheese. Maybe Asian? Get some Sesame dressing. It's all up to YOU. – Cassie G.
  • It's a hip and trendy space with a minimalist and modernized interior bedecked with lofty ceilings, garage-style windows that open up to a small patio overlooking fountains and streams strewn with boulders, a snazzy bar and pulsating soundtracks spanning all musical genres. – Lori M.

The Lesser-Known Counter

While The Counter is known primarily for being an amazing, premium DIY burger joint, it's also the name of a lesser-known Batman villain named The Counter. Like Batman, The Counter has no superpowers, only the slightly-better-than-average ability to count slowly and correctly, which has perplexed Batman time and time again.

In their most famous meeting, The Counter craftily knocked over a jar filled with jellybeans, causing Batman and Robin to speculate how many jellybeans were on the floor. While they stood in silent thought, The Counter quickly tallied the jellybeans in three hours before blinding Robin with acid.
