About Greater Cincinnati Police Museum

The city of Cincinnati was incorporated in 1819; with its prime locale on the Ohio River trade route, business boomed thanks to steamboats and railroads. With the business stimulation of the Guilded Age came an influx of jobs, which waves of people happily migrated to take. And with population growth came the necessity of police. The Greater Cincinnati Police Museum, one of the only regional law enforcement museums in the world, has been inspiring an appreciation of the Cincinnati Police Department for 20 years.

From mounted police troops to modern units, this museum aims to inspire and educate visitors on the evolution of—and dedication displayed by—law enforcement. More than 10,000 archives and artifacts are preserved and interpreted by a volunteer staff, who also provide guided tours to visitors. The museum also acts as a memorial to service members who fell in the line of duty.
