About The Hyde Collection
Established and opened to the public permanently in 1963 The Hyde Collection is one of the Northeast’s exceptional small art museums with distinguished collections of European and American art. Museum founders Louis and Charlotte Hyde acquired the majority of objects during a fifty-year period of avid and highly informed collecting. Four galleries offer a changing schedule of world-class exhibitions. The permanent collection consists of approximately 5000 items.
Permanent Mainstay: The permanent collection consists of more than 4,000 objects, comprising paintings, works on paper, sculpture, and decorative arts, including furniture and textiles as well as Old Master paintings and drawings by such artists as Sandro Botticelli, Claude Lorrain, El Greco, Rembrandt, Peter Paul Rubens, and Giambattista Tiepolo.
