About The Little Loomhouse
Visitors might be surprised that The Little Loomhouse consists of, in fact, three houses. The wooden cabins were constructed between 1870 and 1896 and are preserved to present the story of their inhabitants as well as textile folk art.
- The Buildings: The three cabins are named Esta Cabin, Tophouse, and Wisteria Cabin.
- Permanent Mainstay: Esta Cabin features the history of the Loomhouse including the first performance of the song Happy Birthday to You, and highlights display of weaving crafts.
- Famous Visitors: While visiting in the 1940s, the First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt purchased woven mats that were used in the White House. In 1948, the architect Frank Lloyd Wright visited The Little Loomhouse and praised both the cabins and the natural setting of the surrounding area.
