Today’s Groupon will remind your tongue of the time it backpacked across India without you. For $20, you get $40 worth of cuisine at The Mynt, the gourmet Indian restaurant that prides itself on authentic, traditional dishes while staying refreshingly free of the subcontinent's traditional shrieking pterodactyls. Call ahead for reservations.
Opened by two friends and lifelong food connoisseurs from Hyderabad, The Mynt gives customers in the Bay area a chance to experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of fine Indian dining. The dynamic menu offers delicious choices for lovers of meat and seafood as well as for vegetarians, vegans, and vagrants. The Mynt's signature specials include tandoori lobster with roasted cantaloupe, marinated veggies, and pesto naan with curry sauce ($21), vegetable Manchurian with veggie dumplings and mushroom fried rice ($16), and shrimp peri peri with Portuguese garlic and red-chili sauce ($20).
Beyond the specials, The Mynt features a wide array of tandoori entrees such as the tandoori chicken ($12 for half, $15 for full), as well as lamb classics such as spicy lamb vindaloo ($15). Before you rush to a traditional vegetable dish like the rajma masala (red kidney beans with tomato, onion, and cilantro, $11), be sure to open with a starter of paneer tikka shashlik (roasted cheese, bell peppers, shallots, and chutney, $8) or pepper-fried calamari ($8). Top it all off a dessert of stuffed gulab jamun in sugar syrup ($5) or Shakarkand crème brûlée (sweet potato and saffron custard, $6).
Parties of four or more can combine two Groupons for $80 worth of cuisine, so even the lovey-doviest of movie couples can treat their Bollywood playback singers to a well-deserved dinner at The Mynt. (Maybe as a nice change of pace, you could sing for them.)

- The Mynt is the best Indian cuisine in the South Bay, yes, even better than Amber. Their Shrimp Peri Peri and Rogan Josh are both excellent, and their vindaloos are the absolute best this side of Goa. – iluvvindaloo, TripAdvisor
