Here, pupils learn the ins-and-outs of the industry by studying directly under certified professionals, who pass on their knowledge and experience in a wide range of disciplines. Classes cover the entire spectrum of cosmetology, from hair cuts and colors to manicures, pedicures, and facials. Once students have attained a certain level of mastery, they're also permitted to practice on paying clients. By the end of their studies, students emerge prepared to take the Maryland State Board of Cosmetology Exam, a rigorous test that, among other things, ensures students can tell the difference between hair dye and really thick Kool-Aid.
