Painting along with the class, the instructor demonstrates how to replicate a canvas painting step by step. For two hours, students paint images such as landscapes, flowers, and faces, imparting their own creative strokes as the lesson progresses. Between brushstrokes, they can sip complimentary beverages or purchase beer. Instructors supply each student with a 16”x20” canvas, paint, brushes, and an apron. Therapy a Paint and Sip Boutique's resident artists teach groups to recreate paintings stroke by stroke. As the company's name suggests, the instructors try to make each class a therapeutic experience, during which painters—regardless of skill level—can sip wine or beer, make new friends, and create their own versions of the day's chosen artwork. Depending on the class, the teaching artist might demonstrate how to paint landscapes, faces, or close-ups of flowers. Though informative, these sessions never get too serious; instructors encourage students and any paintings that have come to life to sing and dance along to the music playing in the studio.
