Instructor Jenni Kirby leads aspiring glass-crafters through the basics of mosaics, imparting experience and techniques learned over 14 years in the trade. Students spend two sessions arranging tile pieces into a mosaic stepping stone to decorate their home, garden, or backyard basilica. During the first 2.5-hour session, Jenni covers the fundamentals of mixing and pouring concrete, as well as how to incorporate tile pieces from Tile One's stockpile or found objects that students bring from home, including china, seashells, bottle caps, and obsolete Scrabble tiles. After letting creations cure for a week, students will return for a one-hour session to clean up their stepping stone, put on any finishing touches, and take it home. All tools and materials are included with the class, and intimate class sizes of 15 ensure individualized attention for each student.
