During 60-minute Power Hour classes, students burn up to 1,000 calories by executing an energetic flurry of left hooks, jabs, and roundhouse kicks coupled with periods of strength training. Both boxing and kickboxing classes incorporate heavy bags that students pummel at the instruction of a practiced trainer, who leads them through moves that strengthen and tone the whole body.

That’s because the club’s trainers lead intense hour-long session at the bags, teaching the jabs, roundhouse kicks, and hook punches that burn hundreds of calories per session. Their classes are divided into traditional boxing and kickboxing sessions, with each using the weight of the bag and a client’s own body weight to hone musculature. Classes begin with a warm-up that prevents injuries and strains, then moving onto kicks, punches, and a 15-minute session of core and strength-training exercises. The classes change weekly, allowing clients to fit them easily into busy schedules without having to do strength-training while vacuuming a car’s interior.
