The word "massage" evokes an image of someone relaxing on a table as a therapist kneads their back and neck with aromatic oils. Although this describes many of the massages that Touch of Thai Massage and Wellness offers, it's not the studio's specialty. Instead, the therapists prefer to make their clients active participants in each therapy, most of which call on the techniques of Thai massage. During these treatments, clients remain fully clothed as therapists guide them in yoga-based stretches that work to restore flexibility and enhance healing. At the same time, practitioners press their feet, knees, and elbows along the body's energy lines to release blocked chi and leftover dreams about flying. The spa's decor underpins the practice's Eastern orientation with live orchids, gilded sculptures, and a broken compass.
