The California Gray Whale travels farther than any other whale on earth, going as far as 3,000 miles in one direction from Alaska to Mexico. After birthing their young in the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez, they head North again, traveling close to the coast of California to protect their young from predator whales (Orca).
Itinerary
The California Gray Whale migration takes place in the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, which is where you'll be for part of this whale watching tour. Since the sanctuary is the ocean surrounding the islands, we do not stop on the islands, but we do get close enough to view some of the wildlife around the island's shores.
