This 2-hour historic steam locomotive excursion leisurely chugs its way along 5.5 miles of the remote Greenbrier River to Hevener Station. The Durbin Rocket departs the Durbin depot, in Durbin, West Virginia. This excursion offers departure times of either 10:00 AM or 2:30 PM. When arriving in Durbin, it's a good idea to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time to allow time to check in at the Rail & Trail Store prior to boarding.
Durbin is a quaint small town one hour south of Elkins and 1/2 hour north of Cass, WV. When in the area, you may want to also visit Cass Scenic Railroad State Park or the popular Green Bank Observatory. For lunch, you'll find Station 2 directly across from the train depot, where you can get a sandwich, burger, or salad (at your own expense). Within the Rail & Trail Store, you'll also find hand dipped ice cream, as well as souvenirs and gift items.
