On this tour we will enter into Sunny Jim's Cave and discuss the formation, geology, and famous figures associated with this natural wonder.

La Jolla Cove is home to San Diego’s deepest underwater canyon. Upwelling from the canyon provides nutrient rich waters supporting an incredibly biodiverse marine ecosystem. Today, species residing in La Jolla Cove are protected from fisherman via the Matlahuayl Marine Protected Area.

Some of Ellen’s gifts have had unexpected effects such as the La Jolla Children’s pool. Ellen paid for the construction of the children’s pool to provide access to local children to play and swim in the often rough Pacific waters. Today, the Children’s Pool has been commandeered by the local harbor seal population. Throughout the year, you’re likely to see baby harbor seals floundering around in the shallow waters and new mothers sunbathing and resting on the beach.
