The trip was absolutely amazing experience for us. During 5 days we visited interesting places and we enjoyed whole way a lot. The organisation of the trip was perfect, we had a guide and a driver, they care about us very nice, the guide was really friendly and he told us many interesting information about Mayan history, about sights or about Mayan culture. Accommodation was in great hotels with swimming pools and the rooms were comfortable with air conditioning. The meals were not included, but we always had some stops in local restaurants with delicious food. Because of our guide we felt safe and comfortable during all way. We had big air conditioned car only for us, that was a big positive. We must recommend this tour a lot!

This tour was exactly what I wanted. Other tours were too general. This tour led by Alberto with driver Moses was the best Mayan experience. Lots of long drives but Alberto always offered lots of commentary on the history and legends.

I and my partner were the only members of the group-usually this would be a good thing as the tour could be more individualised and we wouldn’t have to wait for the other group members etc. But it was a very negative experience for us because we had the worst tour guide-Alberto. Even though there were the only two of us, he kept rushing us throughout the tour. We felt that he just wanted to finish his work early. Our pace was faster than anyone else in any of the sites we visited. Alberto helped us to take pictures but he literally just pressed the button like 10 times in a row at each site- wouldn’t care if you were ready for the picture, if there was someone passing by, etc. Most of the pictures were horrible. His introduction of the places were all the same and brief. We didn’t find him knowledgeable. It is really a shame as my partner is very interested in those history and cultures. We couldn’t get much out of Alberto. When we asked questions, he couldn’t actually answer them and just said “yes yes” (when they were NOT yes/no questions) and changed the topics. For example, in one of the sites, he told us how clever the Mayan used numbers. He counted the number of steps to be 13 and this number is special in Mayan culture etc. The fact is we both noticed he skipped a step in the counting and there were 14 steps there instead. We felt that instead of having an in depth tour (which is what this tour was supposed to be), he just took us there to show that his job was done. What we got in the end was just “we have been there” instead of learning anything more about the places. As Alberto rushed to finish his work as early as possible, he made no effort to take us to any lunch places or grab something for lunch. We NEVER had a proper lunch or even a chance to buy a sandwich throughout the 5-day tour. It would be fine if it was really necessary to catch up the timetable but he could have informed us ahead of time to prepare our lunches the day before. To be fair, he did take us to some places for “snacks” but they were never proper meals. They were more like places that he wanted to be for himself instead of for us. For example, he stopped at the small cheese store and he was the one buying the cheese for himself. He took us to a market in a town-the first stop we stayed for minutes was to get corn snacks that he wanted, while we stood on the narrow busy street, with locals pushing us trying to pass by and we didn’t know where to go. He then walked through the busy local market and streets with us really quickly-expecting us to remember the way and go back later. Most of the time I was just struggling to keep up with the pace, pushing my way through the crowds and couldn’t have the time to remember the way at all. He didn’t care if we were actually following or already lost in the crowds. Alberto just seemed to be impatient and having poor temper. There was even one time when we were wandering in a town that he picked a fight with a random guy in the street. We didn’t know what happened -it could be that the stranger said something bad to Alberto and WALKED AWAY. Alberto yelled at him and called him to come back and they started arguing. I was really worried that the stranger would attack us or something. The fact that he picked a fight with a stranger while he was at work showed that he completely disregarded the safety of his customers. That could have ended very badly. Among all of his negative behaviours, I think this is the worst and most unprofessional-he shouldn’t be a tour guide at all when he potentially puts his customers in danger. We are in our 40s so we were still OK to be rushing while not having food for a large part of the day. But we imagined that it would be very hard for people who are older or with some special needs to be joining this tour. He gave us an evaluation form on the last day. We felt obliged to give him some positive ratings but indeed he did a terrible job in it.

This trip was Amazing. The van was new and nice the tour guide, Alberto, was knowledgeable and a joy to be with as was the driver, Jose. We saw so many beautiful pyramids and other joys like waterfalls and cenote (fresh water swimming hole). The accommodations were first rate. This trip does a loop around the Yucatan peninsula, all the way from Cancun to Palenque. Some days have long drive but at this time it’s the only way to see as much as we did. I can only whole heartedly recommend this tour as it was a comfortable beautiful set of unforgettable memories.
