Itinerary
Day 1: Depart the US for Stockholm
Fly overnight from the US to Stockholm, capital of Sweden and one of Europe’s most exciting cities.
Day 2: Day of Leisure in Stockholm Start your exploration of Stockholm at the grand Royal Palace with a tour of the Royal Apartments and royal regalia. Stay in the city’s Gamla Stan (Old Town) to absorb its rich ambience. Then jump on the Metro – often dubbed the world’s longest art gallery – to ‘SoFo’ (South of Folkungatan, Södermalm Island) to join Stockholmers at their daily coffee, leaving enough time to enjoy another city preoccupation – sauna.
Day 3: Day of Leisure in Stockholm
Jump on the ferry to Djurgården Island to visit the Vasa Museum, housing the salvaged wreck of a 17th century 64-gun warship. Discover the secrets of Scandinavian cuisine at Östermalm Market Hall or the outdoor Hornstulls Marknad, then end the day with a tour of the archipelago by boat and dinner at one of Stockholm’s long list of superb restaurants.
Day 4: Travel from Stockholm to Copenhagen by Train (Included)
Enjoy the beauty of southern Sweden from a train window as you join the 5.5-hour rail journey between Stockholm and the Danish capital of Copenhagen, where you’ll stay overnight.
Day 5: Day of Leisure in Copenhagen
Day 6: Explore Copenhagen before Ferry Trip to Oslo (Included)
Check out the shopping scene on Strøget, before heading to the 400-year-old Rosenborg Castle, the home of Denmark’s Crown Jewels. Sample a smørrebrød lunch, then head to Tivoli Gardens amusement park via a selfie with The Little Mermaid statue. The day ends with the overnight ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo, Norway, traveling along Oslo Fjord.
Day 7: Day at Leisure in Oslo
Learn about Norway across the ages at Oslo’s Norwegian Museum of Cultural History, an open-air museum with 160 historic structures on show. Take a long lunch in the restaurant at the modernist Opera House, then discover the history of the centrally-located Akershus Castle, in existence since 1299.
Day 8: The Flåm Railway Scenic Train (Included)
Head the 4.5 hours to Myrdal on the high-speed rail line from Oslo. A hugely scenic station, Myrdal is also the departure point for the world famous Flåm Railway (Flamsbana). Known for the natural beauty of its one-hour route, the railway travels from the mountains of Myrdal to Aurlandsfjord in Flåm, by way of stunning rivers, charming villages, and the unmissable Kjosfossen Waterfall, where the train takes a five-minute photo break. From Flåm, a further three-hour train journey will see you arrive in Bergen.
Day 9: Depart Norway for the US
Lying deep within Norway’s Fjordland and mountains, Bergen is incredibly photogenic. With time before your flight back to the US from its airport, head to the Bryggen district, where quaint wooden buildings provide ample opportunities to stop for a photograph and a coffee."
