Like a satellite spinning round a heavenly body, couples cover the length and breadth of the dance floor with graceful steps at Westside Dance Center. The team of instructors—including recent Cincinnati Dancing for the Stars champion Doug Reynolds—train students in 14 types of ballroom dance, including salsa, swing, merengue, and my-foot’s-on-fire. Private sessions can help individuals perfect their tango and waltz holds, while group classes train dancers in basic steps and techniques, such as leading and not stepping on your partner’s toes. Westside Dance Center also trains couples preparing for their wedding dance, and leads a group salsa-rueda class, which involves a complex circle dance with interweaving patterns.
