Courses include approximately 15 hours of combined classroom and hands-on instruction, and students who successfully complete the Basic Rider curriculum receive a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) completion card that waives the Colorado DMV's written and riding portions of the motorcycle licensing test.
Wheels in Motion, Inc. is an MSF-member riding school that has helped many motorcycle enthusiasts get their bike legs strapped on safely and confidently. The Basic Rider Course is geared toward novices, introducing fundamental maneuvers and handling procedures. The course starts with five hours of classroom instruction, during which expert teachers give an overview of the various cycles and riding gear and explain how they function differently. To prepare students for real-world riding, the instructors also review some typical risky situations on the road and explain how they should be handled. Over the course of two days of hands-on practice, students learn how to mount, dismount, properly start and shut down, shift, stop, throttle, corner, maneuver in limited space, signal, and more.
Following a final practice session, an instructor will evaluate your skill as you complete four riding exercises and a 50-question multiple-choice test. Students must receive a score of 80% or better to pass the test. The Basic Rider Course is a pass/fail course; this Groupon does not guarantee an MSF completion card.
