After mingling over BYO wine and beer, students sit down with an experienced artist to produce the evening’s piece in acrylic paint
A glass of wine is widely considered a helpful way to break through creative blocks left behind by a childhood of having your finger-paintings ridiculed by the New York Times. Relax your inner and outer critics with this Groupon.
$35 for a BYOB Painting Class for Two ($70 Value)
On Thursday and Friday night at 6:30 p.m., aspiring artists crack open bottles of BYO wine and beer before diving after their instructor into the night’s project. A new template is chosen for each two-hour class, including seasonal scenes and well-known classics such as Starry Night and Starry Night But Day at This Time. The studio provides all supplies, including corkscrews, glasses, soda, and water. View the schedule of upcoming classes and paintings here.
Wine, Paint & Canvas
Deborah Reavis and Saundra Rubiera, the resident artists at Wine, Paint & Canvas, have both had lengthy careers as grade-school art educators, making them excellent tutors for classrooms full of fledgling painters of all ages. Seated in front of rows of easels and surrounded by the works of past classes, students follow their instructors’ directions to produce the evening’s piece. Though everyone works from the same template, each student has the chance to stylistically personalize their work by mixing colors painting only the coolest facial hair on self-portraits. Before brush touches canvas, guests can mingle over glasses of BYO wine and bottles of beer, with soda and water also available.
