Lots for kids but food is not great It is listed as a 3 star plus and you get what you pay for. The pool, sauna and kids games rooms mean it should be a 4 four star but the owners know that the poor buffet food and dated rooms infer 3 star. We were lucky it snowed and there is good sledging possibilities right outside. Skiing (and Bob track) in Altenberg is just 5 km away with skating in Geising too

Not to recommend Were there the First time. Too Many Guests, Meals of Bad quality and often cold. Poor offer of Seats and cake for afternoon coffee. The only Thing we liked was the Kiosk Outside the Hotel with hot beverages and Barbecue.

Big hotel and bad staff. If not the biggest hotel in the surroundings of altenberg, probably it’s one of them. The building looks nice from the outside and the lobby but the rooms are just regular. Nice bed, bad pillows (but that’s standard in Europe). Small bathroom and tiny shower space. Internet works fine. The gym is small and doesn’t have good equipment. We had problems with the check in as well: We arrived with reservation, it took them 20 minutes to find our reservation, and they didn’t speak any English. After all set when they found it she wrote down the number of the room which we had to go, we asked which way as it is a big hotel, they send us to the right side we walked all the way through hallway didn’t find our room, came back, she told again the room was there, which clearly it wasn’t so we took a picture to show her, as her English was 0. Then she realized we were in the other side of the building, so we moved all across and arriving in the room was a single bed. We had reservation for 2 persons. So we came back AGAIN to the lobby and her answer was: wait 15 minutes so my colleague speak English and check what he can do, can’t you sleep this night there? . Of course not. So we had to WAIT for her colleague that spoke good English to solve our problem. It felt really messy, as we were tired and it was late.

Got sick from food. Internet can't hold many guests. 1/4 of room lights are not working. Me and at least 20 more people got sick from the food at the hotel. Scrambled eggs at the breakfast were never properly cooked.. Food should make you happy, well not at this Hotel... But that's not all, if you are on a working trip, forget about decent internet or even proper working circumstances because the hotel can't even change previously broken desk lamp and old light bulbs.. I do never recommend this place to anyone just because of their overall attitude to customers.

Might appeal to a specialist taste; lots of facilities, but has a down side This place is big but quiet and out of the way. By road it is a bit off the route from Prague to Dresden. Its own brochure for guests explains it used to be run by the Holidays Section of the East German Trade Unions. It's probably still mainly intended for middle aged Saxon couples who are having their weeks' annual holiday. There are 101 things for them do to - swimming, trips out, cards, pool, interest sessions and in winter there is some skiing. The infrastructure is good, although it's quite a trek from one end of the place to the other (e.g. for swimming). Food was good, fair choice, fair price and well served. My main gripe was having to queue at reception. From what I saw there is usually a queue throughout the afternoon - so more than one person on reception, please. So, if you fancy a week in the Saxon hills with lots organised for you, this is just the place. An odd overnight is OK too, but it's not quite what the place is for.
