Beautiful Hotel The aesthetics of the hotel was amazing. The staff was friendly and overall the hotel was a vibe. Couldn’t give a 5 because the room temperature was a study 72/74 degrees even when set to 60. We could not sleep under the thick blanket or we would be sweating. TV only had 1 English channel but it wasn’t a deal breaker. There are apps on TV for Netflix, Disney Plus if you wish to log on. WiFi was decent during the stay. Check In and Check Out was seamless. The staff spoke English and was welcoming. They assisted in getting us a taxi can for dinner. Short walks from center restaurants. We took taxis at night. The property is gorgeous.

Best Hotel in Antigua Wow! El Convento may be in my top 3 hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Conveniently located in a quiet corner in Antigua, close to the city center, near restaurants and bars. The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend!

Needs help with management and service Let me start by saying with better management this hotel could be much better. The issues lie in follow-up and responsibility. We made several inquiries to arrange our travel prior to arrival and it was like pulling teeth to get responses. We were ping ponged from one person to the next over a period of weeks because people who work there are willing to say yes to requests then never follow through. For the trouble management did offer a discount to the rate because of all of the headaches but again at luxury properties the headaches wouldn’t arise in the first place. I would have serious hesitations planning any type of large event here for that reason. Another issue was airport service, we missed our flight and it costs us 600 dollars because staff doesn’t know airport times and recommended a pickup time that was impossible for us to make our flight with “per the driver himself”. Hotel management said it’s our responsibility to know the distances and traffic however as Americans traveling abroad and using the hotels own transfer service it’s reasonable to expect the hotel to know what times we should be picked up to make our flight and take responsibility when things go wrong, we were still charged full cost for the transfer. While there we requested a site inspection for our event, the staff no showed twice and it was never done. Jessica Lopez the manager makes excuses for her staff however at the end of the day things don’t get done. Another example is a water shutoff notice we got on Sunday saying that at 10:00 pm all water will be shutoff at the property until 4 am due to maintenance. Again not really indicative of a luxury hotel to have no running water after 10pm to even wash your hands or flush the toilets. The property definitely has potential but falls short in many ways as well.
