Fine for an overnight; Close to Dulles All of Ashburn is brand new; it looks like a giant movie set. This property was part of that but curiously, despite it seeming very new and clean, there was really poor maintenance: 2 lights in my room didn't work, the ice machine was broken, etc. Staff were perfunctory but not friendly -- you have to pass by front desk to go to and from rooms but they never acknowledged me, even with a nod. Looked like many guests were taking advantage of the hotel shuttle to Dulles. There is a 7-11 quite literally in the parking lot so easy to get to lower-priced snacks and sodas and the like. It was fine but nothing special.

A nice place to stay at the airport We always stay at Hilton Garden Inn at Dulles before we catch an early flight. Just a nice place to stay. Rooms are good. The bath is standard today's hotel bath. If you can wait until after 6 am they provide a breakfast. In a small business park.

Pretty decent when staff are friendlier The hotel is in a great location connecting to other parts of Ashburn we needed to go, so it was very convenient to stay here. There are no EV charging stations at this location, so be aware of that if you drove an EV like we did. The front desk staff was rather judgmental about us asking when the $100 deposit would be charged to our debit card for incidentals, an experience we’ve not had before. It seems a credit card is needed everywhere these days. The room was decently sized and comfortable, with a nice shower to boot. There isn’t a complimentary breakfast here, which is a bit of a bummer considering the price. Checkout was easy and we had a fairly pleasant stay.

Nice hotel, but not great for early flights Very comfortable hotel with a nice restaurant on site. I would give this hotel a 5 rating except that for an airport hotel, they sure don't cater to travelers with early morning flights. The shuttle does not start running until 6AM, so if you have an early flight, (we had a 7AM flight), we needed to take a cab. We were downstairs at 5AM for our cab, and looking forward to a cup of coffee. But coffee is not available until 7AM. Really? This hotel is great if you have a flight at 10AM. We would not choose this hotel again if we had an early flight.

Read the fine print (1) My biggest beef is with the hotel free shuttle service which is the reason I chose to stay at this property. They advertise being 10 minutes away from IAD — no way. They are at least 20 and it depends on the traffic, could be more. Why does this matter? Because after flying all night without sleep, and arriving at 7 am at Dulles, and paying for an extra night so I could check in early, I waited in the cold windy weather for an hour and a half for a pick-up. I called the hotel 3 times to ask where the shuttle was. They gave me the run-a-round. That they had called the driver and he would call me when approaching the airport. No one called. On top of that, I had twisted my knee and it was painful to walk and pull two pieces of luggage from Baggage across rhe street to the shuttle waiting area so I was in pain. Even the Marriott shuttle driver actually got out of his shuttle and asked about me. He said “you’ve been here for a while, where are you going, who are you waiting on?” He just shook his head. Might not seem like a big deal to you readers, but as a senior traveling alone for a family emergency, I was feeling sick by the time I got to the hotel. If my knee wasn’t bothering me, I would have pulled my luggage to the cab area and taken a taxi over. When i arrived at the hotel, I asked to see the manager (first person I called) but he had left “an hour ago.” I told the front desk, they should comp my room and just allow early check in. That was ignored and I was too tired to press it. (2) My room was freezing — 67 degrees. Why keep the AC on when it is 40 degrees outside? The thermostat did not have a control button for heat or AC so I had to turn it on 85 and it literally took 2 hours to warm up. When you are chilled already, it was not pleasant, and I just got in bed with my clothes on and covered up. (3) The website indicates they have a restaurant —no. They have an open area that looks like the Hampton Inn’s breakfast area but with a bar. I figured they had room service - no, not really. So if you check in early and feel sick, you can’t order breakfast delivery: Also it is limited to certain hours that I missed. I ended up walking to Starbucks (with my bad knee screaming at me). I got coffee, a sandwich, and a breakfast item for the next day so I would not have to go out in the cold again. The next day, after sleeping, I walked to the Shell station/7-11, nearby, and got another sandwich and chips and stuff for dinner. Following day my son picked me up. I’m glad thise facilities are close as the hotel menu is limited. But they do have a bar for “adult drinks.” (3) the room itself needs updating — it’s tired looking. The shower was so high I could not reach it to adjust it. I am campaigning for Hilton to replace all their showers with detachable shower wands so women can clean our “nether regions.” (4) I would never stay here again. Lesson: do more homework about hotel properties. Read the fine print.
