Fancy Lobby fireplace, but rooms and restauraut not so much! This 12 year old hotel, featuring a "big game" restaurant, (The Red Stag Grill), strives to reflect the Biltmore Inn Hotel, and Grove Park Inn ambiance decor and dining, but it misses the mark. Priced in the $400 a day range it is less than the aforementioned hotels and is not their equal. The reserved room I requested, and paid for in advance at their online website, was not the one we received. It lacked a balcony and certain amenities in the shower that were shown on the website. When questioned about this the manger told us that he never saw the bathroom amenities I spoke of on their website. I checked again, they are most definitely there in the room photos. We were told that the hotel was booked so changing to the room I thought I reserved was not possible. The room itself, except for the fancy tub most seniors have no chance of getting into and out of, was no better in size or decor than room at hotels costing far less. Room service included a 20% fee, and a $5.00 charge for the delivery. Upon departure I challenged the $27 a day parking fee guests had to pay that is in addition to the daily room charges. Friends visiting hotel guests get free validated parking, and those coming just for lunch/dinner pay only a $8.00 parking fee. After listening to my opinion about the unfairness of those charges the desk manger agreed to waive those $27 a day parking charges. The Red Stag Grill highlights their game menu like a $40 Elk steak, sides are $5 each. Other options include duck that was disappointing as were the fried calamari appetizer and the soup offering. All in all the menu was expensive and only a little above average at best.Their touted wine list was substantial, but most bottles were over $100.00, certainly the ones the waiter recommended. The Red Stag Lounge had a long bar and seating at tables. The problem was that if one wanted to have a pre dinner drink in the lounge seating was only available at the bar because the few tables they had were reserved for those patrons ordering food from the bar menu. Considering the many other Asheville hotel options (both more and/or less expensive), I could not recommend this hotel and restaurant experience as getting the most "bang for your buck." Never Seems to Disappoint I have stayed at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville multiple summers in a row. I arrived late in the evening and the staff at the front desk was as welcoming and courteous as one would expect during day light hours. The room was clean, spacious, quiet and with a comfortable bed. The staff knew when to service the room around my activities. The spa was able to accommodate me on a busy Saturday. The steak house was great as always. Overall, you can't go wrong with your stay here. Don't hesitate to book.

Grand Bohemian Asheville A beautiful hotel in the Kessler Collection. Attention to detail is evident from the minute you arrive. The facility is beautiful & interesting, the staff is attentive & gracious and the food/drinks at the Red Stag Grille were delicious! Conveniently located in the Biltmore Village area.

Lobby or Restaurant?? We stayed at The Grand Bohemian with another couple for my wife’s 70th birthday. The hotel staff was courteous and very helpful. Our stay for three nights was excellent except for one night. This is they ONLY thing that caused this response. It is important how you treat people. We were seated on couches in the in the lobby having drinks that were ordered from the restaurant with our friends, and enjoying conversation. One of the restaurant staff approached us and told us we would have to leave as the area was reserved. The staff member then proceeded to please a reserved sign on the coffee table. Not only was this area reserved, but it seemed they put one at every location in the lobby. This left us with no place to sit in the lobby. As patrons of the hotel, as well as the restaurant, we thought this was very rude. We had to finish our drinks and venture to a different location in town to continue our evening. This was the only night during our stay that the lobby was reserved. This one event put an extreme damper on our stay. By the way, we did eat at the restaurant the next night and it was excellent. Not the right way to treat guests. An explanation was never given.
