Missed opportunities My husband and I were so looking forward to a relaxing weekend away and chose the Golden Nugget AC. I asked at check in if we had a newly renovated room and was assured that "one of the best rooms here." AFTER checking in (at the elevator bank) there was a sign that construction could disrupt our stay. Guess what..."one of the best rooms" had construction directly above it and this went on for hours! I asked at the front desk about the construction and was told on Friday that the workers probably wouldn't be there over the weekend. It would have been nice to know that the noise would last all day BEFORE checking in or at least having the option to change rooms. The lack of concern among the staff continued the entire weekend. The hostess at breakfast barely looked away from her phone to even seat us in the empty restaurant. The server couldn't be bothered taking our order to the point we ended up leaving. The "best room" in the facility had paper thin walls and the guests next door not only had a blaring TV, but cigar smoke coming into our room too. The tourist fee is a total joke. There was water in the room for $4 per bottle, but the tourist fee didn't cover the water. That fee was for the H2O lounge which was closed and free WIFI...what??? $32 per night for WIFI. Finally, there was no housekeeping at all. There were no replacement of towels, the tissue box was empty, etc. When I asked for towels andor housekeeping I was told that this was an option only due to COVID. Wasn't COVID 4 years ago and I can't get towels?? The room itself was very nice, but the other issues and total disinterest of the employees was disappointing.

Think twice before you book The bathroom was dirty, the floor had hair, nail clippings, and the back of the door had an inch of dust around the molding of the glass. I mentioned it to housekeeping and it was cleaned. There weren't any glasses in the bathroom, for water to take meds, etc. The walls are so thin that you hear everything from the hallway noise to the noise from adjacent rooms. The hotel is dated.

Just OK. Smoky. This was my first time at Golden Nugget, and I was underwhelmed. We self-parked and made our way inside through the dated brown and tan hallways. On our way to check-in, the first thing I noticed was the cigarette smoke smell. Yes, I know there are smoking areas in casinos, however, the smoke smell was present throughout. My guess is that the ventilation system is perhaps not as robust or new as in other casinos. It also didn't help that people were smoking in the non-smoking sections. As we checked in, I asked about the parking transfers to/from another casino (clearly noted in the GN website). The woman checking us in said that "wasn't a thing" and remarked that she didn't know why people kept asking about it. When I said it was on the website, she didn't offer to check or find out. The king bed room was OK. The bathroom (tub/shower, toilet, single sink) was small but clean. The worst part of the room was the thin walls, enabling us to hear our neighbors'...um...3 a.m. activities loud and clear. There is no walking to other resorts, so you are basically limited to the food offerings on site. The dining options are not as plentiful as in other resorts. All in all, I think the resort casinos on the beach/boardwalk have more to offer.
