Good with areas of improvement needed Beautiful setting Good facilities Reception staff could do with a greetings refresher course - all arrivals of guests are special. Restaurant staff generally very lovely despite hiccups. Sadly the cleanliness wasn’t great - some elements were quite grubby and the downstairs ladies restroom had an issue which was new on the day of arrival (I assume) and remained for the next four days- I mentioned it hoping to be discreet with management, which was bafflingly met with a vague reassurance that everything was fine Will be returning soon so I hope the issues have been resolved

Afternoon tea delight We came to Bucks from Canada, to tour around, and were very pleased to partake of the full authentic afternoon tea experience at Hartwell... everything was immaculately prepared, including the room with furniture and ornaments from days long past. The scones had to be the best I've ever tasted. Looking around the house showed how ornate it was, especially the carvings along the staircase. A staff member enthusiastically recounted the history of the house, which made it all the more enjoyable.

Great Afternoon tea The afternoon tea here is fabulous and beautiful setting . My children absolutely loved it and we went for a walk in the beautiful grounds . The staff are a little stuffy but ambience makes up for it . Great for a weekend or day break . Will definitely go back .

A Truly Magical Experience My Wife used to work here, many many years ago - 30 years actually. She was a Chamber Maid and always said, one day, if she could afford it, she would love to stay in The Kings Rooms - well if it's good enough for Louis XVIII, it's good enough for us!. It's was her 50th birthday, so we decided to do something more personal, and this was the choice - and it was the best decision I have ever made (Apart from marrying her, she's reading this as I type!) Joking aside, I had previously lived locally for more than 35 years, but never set foot in the place until this day. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a wonderful receptionist, who herself had been there for nearly 29 years, but started just after my wife had left. We were then taken to our room by our amazing porter. He loved his time there, you can really tell. I'm not going to go into further details than that, but what I can say is this, I've done myself no favours in trying to beat this experience from the moment we arrived to the moment we left!! What I can say is that the service from all members of staff was exceptional, the room itself, absolutely fit for a king and the dining experience itself, right up there with some of the best food, we've ever eaten - also mention to the waitress that served us that night, very engaging without being obtrusive, a difficult talent to have. I can't recommend the experience enough. If it were possible to give 6 stars, I would have.

Nearly perfection I was fortunate to be invited to Hartwell House for a friends birthday , wow what a place nearly everything was perfect ,beautifull rooms, great food and great service, couldnt want for more, that is once your inside.....it did not start to well ,with felt like being shouted down a camera to be let in, then to be greeted by a receptionist who obviously took offence of having to show me where to go,so much so that when got to the bar area shouted at a colleague "here's another guest ,dont know who they are but its not my job to bring them here.. luckily everything else made up for this woman, take note if you don't like greeting the public don't work with them...Will definitely be back ,but next time I might just creep in
