Very unique property We stayed here on a Thursday night in July. We booked a room with a queen and two bunk beds and were able to park our car right outside the door of our room. The room was clean and quiet, the bathroom and shower worked well, and the wifi was reliable. We arrived at 3 but our room was not ready until 4. Front desk staff were friendly, check in and check out easy. The outdoor pool was getting lots of use. The location is very unique. It's right off the highway and not far from downtown. There are several good places to eat within walking distance e.g. Laughing Planet and El Sancho Taco Shop. Safeway and an excellent liquor store are right across the street, 7-11 and Walgreens a block over on the same side of the street. Oregon Spirits distillery is just a few blocks behind the place, an easy walk. One thing to be aware of is there is a homeless community on the block behind the hotel. You never see them unless you drive back that way or go in the 7-11 next door, and it was never an issue during our stay. It's just something that comes with where this property is located.

Awesome hotel, but a little bit loud My family and I loved this hotel for the thoughtful design, comfy beds, friendly staff and thoughtful touches like the free beer by the fire pit. I'd highly recommend only visiting if you can get a room on the top/2nd floor. If you're on the 1st/ground floor you can really hear your upstairs neighbors due to bad building design. Overall, a great place to stay, but if you're sensitive to noise you'll want to be on the upper floor.

We checked out within the hour. We could not stay here. We checked out within the hour. The room had an awful smell. The air conditioning could not keep up with the temperature outside and the room was stifling. The lighting was very dim. Based on the feeling of the room I did a bed bug check. No bed bugs, but a brown smeared stain on the mattress cover (that is one of those zip on kinds and obviously had not been washed in awhile) and tons of hair (not mine). There were people directly outside our door chain smoking and hacking. I’m sure that contributed to some of the smell in the room. While this hotel is very Instagram worthy with their lobby, pool and other branding it is all lipstick on a pig. My kids were nearly in tears before we checked out. Luckily we found another room in town about a $100 more for the night but well worth the peace of mind. The front desk clerk was very pleasant and responsive. She was very busy and I felt bad that she didn’t have additional help. I was also put off to later read that this had been a Covid hotel. If that is true, with the hotel’s lack of cleaning, I am even happier that we opted NOT to stay here.

Almost hits the mark This place almost does it for us, with a few improvements this would be a great place to return. We come to Bend every summer, and tiring of the expense of Airbnb’s in the area, decided to give this more budget friendly hotel a go. The concept is great but not executed well. We were placed into a first floor room across the street, which one would think would be quieter, but most people have dogs so it was actually quite noisy. Hotel provides earplugs which I found sufficient to block most noises, but my husband had a hard time sleeping with barking dogs. Rooms are fine - what you would expect at this price point - a little dank smelling which I’m guessing is from previous ownership. It definitely feels like our room had been smoked in though. Additionally, our TV did not work (only wanted to watch the US Gymnastics Olympic Trials!) and when we picked up the hotel phone to notify the front desk… realized the phone line was cut? Is the phone supposed to be decorative or functional? We still do not know. Outside our room we had quite a few street people come in, sit in the chairs and smoke their cigarettes… which is not pleasant for a relaxing experience. Our room had a fridge and a microwave, but no coffee. Had to hike across the street to get a cup from the front desk, not a big deal but a minor annoyance to my spouse. Hotel does not provide breakfast. The pool left a lot to be desired. The heater was not on so the water was almost unbearably cold. The hot tub was nice, there are sign ups to ensure people are socially distancing, but most guests did not sign up or follow the hotel’s policy on this. The worst part by far was the music. You cannot escape the depressing folksy tunes because you’re sitting under giant speakers. My husband talked to everyone at the pool and agreed it was so awful as to warrant a call to the front desk, at which point he was told they are required to play the folk music but they could try to find something a little more upbeat. Nope, still awful. Bar / lounge area are closed. Feels like a bit of false advertising when the website boasts a heated pool, bar and lounge. Campfire was fun, usually crowded with smokers in the evenings, but we did meet some interesting people. TLDR; this place could be spectacularly awesome with all the amenities the website boasts, and better execution of the theme they’re going for. We will not stay here again unless improvements are made.

Cool theming The theming is cool and the amenities are lacking. Rooms are sparse, only one nightstand but room for 2. No coffee maker In the room. Staff is pleasant. Room was clean. Kind of pricey for a motel at almost $200 per night. Centrally located but lots of vagrants in the neighborhood.
