pathetic customer service I can't say anything about the property since my reservation was canceled before I even got to Big Bear but the way this guy handled our situation.. That was just some seriously lousy customer service. Because of a snowstorm all the roads to Big Bear were closed so it was impossible to get there. We had been in a car for 6 hours and at that point decided to turn around. Before we did I called the property to let them know we were not going to check in that night. The woman who answered was very nice. She said the roads would probably reopen the next morning and I told her we would come then. The next morning one of the roads into Big Bear reopened and we were almost half way there when I called the property again just to let them know we were on our way. The man who answered told me my reservation was canceled because I was a no show and they gave my room to someone else. I made a reservation for three nights, I was prepared to pay for three nights and I don't understand why they wouldn't hold my room. I don't understand why they didn't at least try to contact me and tell me about the cancelation. This guy said he didn't have a room for me and he couldn't help me. It was a very unpleasant phone call as he was just trying to get rid of me as fast as he could. I would recommend the man who answered my call to get some advice on how to deal with customers. We really like Big Bear and will go back for sure but this place will never hear from us again.

Perfect Downtown Location What a great experience we had staying at the Big Bear Valley Lodge! If you require high-end accommodations, this is not the place for you. But if you would enjoy a rustic “up in the mountains” feel, you would love it. The location is perfect - on the main drag in Big Bear Lake. We came up to Big Bear to participate in the Tour de Big Bear cycling events and the location could not have been more perfect. Restaurants line the street and the best gelato in town is right downstairs! The suite was very large and though there were two of us, 6 could have easily stayed. There was a full kitchen with coffee supplied. Wes, the proprietor, was very accommodating and helpful. Free and easy parking. There was no AC in the room, but that was not a problem with ample fans supplied and windows that opened for a delightful breeze. From our unit, there was a (side) view of the lake. I will plan to stay at the Big Bear Village Lodge on my next trip to Big Bear.

STOLE $200 FROM OUR DEBIT CARD Never would i have thought that Big bear lake hotel owner would scam a disabled senior out of $200 but he did.We stayed one night at this dirty old apartment style dive.$95 a night. He didnt know the wifi password, so no wifi. The cable went out no t.v. But heres the kicker This guy is running a scam! He has you initial a paper that says if you smoke in the room its a $200 charge. Yes i initialed it because i had no plans to smoke in the room and i didnt! It was hours after checking out that afternoon i found out he debits my card for $200. I call right away and he is sarcastic and is laughling under his breath as he says you smoked in the room so it cost you $200.No marter what i said to him he just kept saying you smoked in the room. He knew the minute i initialed that paper and he had my debit card number that he was going to fausly accuse me of smoking thats the SCAM.Be Aware Of This Guy And Dont Stay Here.It was a slow summer so i guess stealing was how he Paid his bills all season. There are other reveiws where he did this to other guests.

Great location, large rooms This hotel/motel is really more like a very basic long-stay property. There are six units, two downstairs and four upstairs. I had one of the downstairs units, helpful since I have bad knees. It was more like a one bedroom apartment. Separate living room area with a complete kitchen stocked with utensils. Large king sized bed in bedroom with shower tub in bathroom. Also a large jacuzzi tub in the living room which I thought was an odd location until I realized that the fireplace (and TV and dvd player) were right there so probably a good place for a couple’s retreat. None of the furniture was fancy but it was well kept up. The only negative of this particular unit was the lighting in the bedroom- there was no real source of outdoor light and the nightstand lights didn’t throw off much light. The manager is very nice and very helpful. My cable TV wasn’t working when I first turned it on and he was there right after I called and figured out a way to fix it. I had to do the same thing one more time, but after that I didn’t have any more problems. The property is on the main drag of the Village, walking distance to many restaurants, bars, shopping and The Cave. They have a parking lot in the rear, which was the only real problem that I had. When I came back to the hotel at 10:30 on Friday night, there were no parking spaces available, even though there are more than 6 spaces. I was able to find street parking that late, and just hoped it was legal to park overnight on the street. When I mentioned this to the manager on Saturday he told me I should have called him, but I didn’t want to bother him that late. I did mention the pickup truck that was taking up two spots, which evidently belonged to the man standing in front of my room smoking. Sunday morning when I was ready to check out and leave the pickup was parked right next to me, over the line and so close that it was impossible for me to get in on the driver side. I had to climb in from the passenger side. Again I’m sure the manager would have made the truck move if I’d bothered to call him but it wasn’t necessary.
