Horrible I wish negative stars were possible... First, an obscene amount of texting from the manager. Fortunately, my husband had to deal with that, but he reported a few texts a day from the time he booked our cabin (#5) until we got there. Second, a cute little map that was extremely UNhelpful as to finding our cabin, & especially the parking space (which was no where near the cabin). We arrived, parked in the wrong place temporarily to unload & then went to dinner where I used various apps to finally determine where our parking spot was. I told my husband that I remember the spot & that was where a huge truck was parked. He texted the manager (off-site by the way) about the truck, & received an answering text from her saying it was her employee & she would have him move. Hunh! Seems like she could have done that before we arrived. The floor (uncarpeted) was dirty & disgusting to walk on. The shower (highlighted in the website's blurb on #5) didn't work right. It "featured" 3 nozzles that were not adjustable, even though they were clearly designed to be adjustable. My husband said that for his shower most of the water came out about waist height & would have been wonderful if he was 3 feet tall. But the absolute, ABSOLUTE WORST was the jack hammer!!!! That went on ALL Saturday (except for I assume a lunch break)!!!! About 30 feet away. Bare minimum, we should have been told about the work being done. And a discount would have been reasonable. I ended up spending about 2 hours in the car (which once again - was no where near the cabin...fortunately, I guess). So I ended the day with a migraine. Don't go!!!

ONE & DONE Birthday weekend to Big Bear. When we arrived to our cabin, it was in a construction zone. The picnic/BBQ area for the cabin was fenced off. The TV didn't work. There was no on-site person. The Korean era decor included pictures nailed to the wall. If you are not good at texting, this place is not for you. that was the only contact and she was in Oregon at her other job....The only reason I gave two stars is the shower had hot water. Won't be going back!

Disappointed!! We had stayed at Sleepy Forest in Big Bear several times before and always had a good experience. However, this time we stayed in cabin #8 and it was not good. As you enter the porch there was dry rot on all the posts and chipping paint, not very impressive! As you entered the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom there was no doubt this cabin needed to be renovated. Paint was chipping, wallpaper loose on the walls, flooring needed to be redone. We are hoping that cabin #8 is next in line for a complete remodel. I will say the cabin was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was no soap at the bathroom sink. I asked the manager for some and she told me that there was soap in the bathtub area. They have a container on the wall with same soap for shampoo, conditioner and body wash, which was a little difficult to transport to the bathroom sink. She also told me people/kids were putting the bar soap down the toilets and clogging them up! Fortunately, I had a small bar of soap in my luggage. There were no stoppers for the bathroom or the kitchen sink. I asked for one and they didn't have any - a little hard to do dishes when you can't put soap and water in the sink. It took a day to get a dish towel. I asked for a dish cloth and they didn't have any. They did finally bring me a sponge. I told them a nice touch would be a roll of paper towels for the kitchen. They told me they used to do that, but people were throwing them down the toilet and again clogging up the toilets. I would recommend that you do not stay in cabin 8 until it has been remodeled. I had booked another cabin without a kitchen that had been newly renovated, I wish I had kept that cabin, but I wanted the convivence of a kitchen. Also #8 is connected to 2 other cabins. At 11:00 at night the people next door, I think, were using their jacuzzi tub - that was pretty loud. Pick a cabin that is not connected to another one! I will stay here again, we like the area, but I will be pickier on what cabin I choose.

Cute getaway Really cute little cottage with everything you needed. Loved everything about it except the bed!! Was like a two poster bed and pole was really close to window! Like any harsh movement would maybe go through window. _ you know what I mean!! Pretty outside area

A Big Bear find... We have spend several weeks throughout the fall in the Big Bear region at several accommodations including Airbnb & Vrbo. Based on multiple positive reviews of the "Sleepy Forest Cottages" we booked a weekend at one of their rustic accommodations. We were not disappointed. The owner Cathy upgraded us to a cozy & clean 2 bedroom cabin with a huge fireplace, modern bathroom with jetted tub as well as fully functioning kitchen. This place grows on you. Besides being located within walking distance to the lake, restaurants & parks it was a quiet getaway. Special kudos to Cathy. She responds immediately to any inquiries & a minor maintenance issue was taken care of immediately. It's obvious she cares about her patrons. We'll be back.
