Condemned! "UNFIT for HUMAN HABITATION" After making a reservation on May 18, 2019, my wife and I arrived on the date we planned to stay and were greeted with signs on all the doors with words that title this review! What??? The vacate order was dated June 5 and no one bothered to inform us in the last 24 days since that we would not be able stay here on June 29. Maybe I should be grateful that we had to drive 20 miles west to find another hotel. If this ever reopens, consider yourself warned: abandon hope of staying here comfortably or safely!

0/5 - Remarkable Reservation Failure My Dad and I visited Binghamton this weekend for an event, and made a reservation a while ago for 2 Queen Beds. Upon arriving at Nuru, we attempted to check in and were told that there were no rooms available with 2 Queens, and were offered a King room instead. The manager blamed the computer system, but it was obvious there was no system to cross-check the reservations made with the availability in the building. Thankfully, they didn't charge us; I'd stayed at this building's previous iteration (the Grand Royale Hotel) numerous times with no problems, and now I'll never go back under current ownership after this disaster of a check-in experience.

They Are Closed!!! On Friday April 19, 2019 I made a reservation online and secured it with my credit card. When we arrived the next day the building is closed and looks like it's under construction inside. Their online reservations is still active but the hotel is closed!!!

Comfortable, Quiet, Excellent Downtown Location Hotels with historical significance are often fun to stay at, and on a recent trip to New York in support of my beer blog, Great Beer Now, I got the opportunity to stay at a hotel with historic roots. My place of lodging was the Nuru Binghamton Downtown. Nuru Binghamton Downtown is tied to the past by the fact that it was constructed out of a former municipal building. Inside and outside, it has the appearance of a government building and the architecture one sees as they walk in the entrance is cool and very different from the usual hotel. The rooms at Nuru Binghamton Downtown are large in size and feature modern amenities, which is an interesting contrast to the historical aspects mentioned above. The rooms have a television, mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker, and a good number of outlets for your electronics. The beds are quite comfortable and I had no trouble drifting off to sleep. The area is also very quiet and so is the inside of the hotel, so you should be free from distractions. Parking at Nuru Binghamtn Downtown is free and offered behind the building, in a private parking lot. Check- in is quick and efficient and there is much to see and do in the surrounding areas. This might be the hotel’s greatest asset: Its location. You’re right there, in downtown, within walking distance of entertainment, restaurants, and more. One issue I had with Nuru Binghamton Downtown was the lack of amenities. This is not a good hotel option for people who want a full service hotel with restaurant, bar, spa, gift shop, etc. Other than some space for meetings, there were little to no amenities outside of the rooms. Another issue I had was the lack of any pictures or other decorations inside the rooms. They could be made better if they offered something besides bare walls. Overall, however, I found the Nuru Binghamton Downtown an agreeable place of lodging for my needs. I needed a hotel where I could quickly get to the places I planned to visit, and considering this hotel was within walking distance of all of my destinations, it earned high marks in that area. It could stand to be improved in a few ways, but it still has much to offer for those looking to stay in downtown at a safe property free from crowds and noise.

Visiting kid at school Still being renovated. Quite sketchy at the moment. But it's right downtown. Room was clean, though. Staff nice Can see it being great in the future but the construction is visible all around. Seems like the security card system is brand new
