Aged but still ok and great staff Was here for three nights for a conference. The conference facilities were fine and seemed to be well managed and equipped. The hotel does shows its age in some areas. TVs don’t offer any streaming services, pool was closed for repair (in early August), the touch screen on the Peloton I used was very fussy, generally feels a bit old. That said, it’s very clean and it’s filled with really friendly and helpful staff that made my stay very comfortable. I’d like to give a particular shout out to Stephen on the bell/valet staff. Very helpful getting me out when I was in a bit of a time crunch.

Outhouse in the City My significant other and I are in our late 70s. We are staying at the Hyatt Wynfrey in Birmingham while we’re in town for a family reunion. My mother and her siblings grew up in rural Alabama in the 1920’s in an area where they used an outhouse because they had no running water. Though this Hyatt has running water, I’m writing this review at 12:55 a.m. from a bathroom outside of the room I’m paying for because our toilet doesn’t flush. Day one: we called maintenance because the water wasn’t draining from the bathroom sink. It was repaired. Day two: when we returned from a day away we found that the toilet flushed only after a couple of attempts. We complained and once again maintenance came to the room and attempted two different solutions including snaking out the toilet plumbing. After midnight much to our dismay we discovered that the toilet wasn’t flushing at all. Several attempts later and the solid remains were still swirling in the toilet. We contacted the front desk. No we can’t move you because we’re at capacity. But we were invited to use the restrooms in the lobby if we needed to relieve ourselves during the night. Maintenance wasn’t available at night!!! They sent a pleasant security officer with a plunger instead! After our numerous attempts to flush plus his plunger we had success!! Unacceptable is an understatement. Was the group rate insufficient for plumbing services? A less significant issue was the safe that didn’t work after two visits from maintenance. Did I mention that the safe was located at ankle level? My partner had to lay on his stomach to punch in the code which he couldn’t punch in because an error code continued to flash. We plan on cutting our trip short. I do not recommend this “hotel”.

Friendly service with a smile Our room was modern, clean, comfortable, quiet and had a very comfortable bed. All the staff at the hotel that we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Thanks to Marcia at the front desk for all the recommendations. We had a nice Sunday breakfast in the hotel restaurant and were able to enjoy a little shopping and walking around the galleria mall before we left town. We used the self parking in the underground garage with elevator access into the hotel. It was very convenient and we were able to come and go easily to go out to dinner nearby to meet
