Family tour very enjoying A great hotel review line within 200 characters should focus on a specific positive aspect and be concise and impactful. For example, "Clean, modern rooms, friendly staff, and a great location made our stay memorable!" or "Highly recommend this hotel; excellent service and comfortable rooms, especially the breakfast was delicious!"

Rock and roll VIP The Verb Hotel a was a destination in itself. Kids loved the heated pool, a stones throw from Fenway with a welcoming staff and clean room w endless complimentary coffee and water. The free breakfast in the morning served by Daniela and Yoselin was a great way to start the day. Classic vinyl in each room added a special touch and made us feel like rock and roll VIPs. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else

A Walk on the Wild Side This hotel is just amazing. Price is amazing. Location is amazing any time of the year. Pool is heated and is amazing. Record players in room amazing. If you grab Red Sox tickets and see a game and stay at this hotel, amazingly amplified happiness. I’ve stayed here for years….. but, all that being said, I don’t think I’ll be staying here anymore. For sure there’s been a change in staff service, hotel upkeep and staff friendliness to the point where sleep was poor due to other guests partying in their rooms until 3am and just lack of basic comfort. Perhaps it’s just the cost of the Verb becoming more popular. A bummer to be sure. We’ve been going to the Verb for years and it’s always been 100% everything until this last trip. Usually they have an employee and valet at the door to help you with luggage, check in car, open door in inclement weather, etc.. This time they did not. We had a hard time bringing all our luggage in in the cold and dark and managing the door. No biggie, but a definite change. A lovely employee in the lobby did eventually help us, and he was great, but the front desk staff acted like we were ghosts. Like they just couldn’t see us struggling, haha. Our whole three night stay there the valet was really nice and quick to help us, but I never saw anyone cover the front door at all. The front desk staff we dealt with during our stay never looked up from their phones or computers once after we checked in. No acknowledgement or hello or good bye or how are you, which was weird as the check in lobby is rather small. In the past, the staff was the absolute best thing about the Verb. Now, it feels kind of like they think you are a pain for being in their space. We had an older friend travel with us. She said she went down to the attached restaurant and bar area for a drink. She said the bar tender could clearly see her, and she waited 30 minutes, but he never helped her. She said maybe they don’t like old ladies. Who knows, but I was kind of embarrassed as I had raved about the top tier service at the Verb and attached restaurant, but she was feeling all guilty for ( her words) “ not being cool enough to get served a Diet Coke”. The thing that totally turned me off is that the Verb does not enforce quiet hours through the night. Our rooms were towards the back of the hotel and there was a happening party going on which we were not invited to, but we listened until 3am to the singing and shouting and barking dog as party people hopped between the rooms all around us, and sang and called each other “Wild women”. I respect their happiness, so I waited until about 2:45am to call front desk to ask them to intervene. Front desk asked if I was calling about the barking dog… the party people’s pooch had been barking for the last hour, but I said no. It was the drunken singing that was making me feel like Satan at 3am. I could hear them through my 500.00 Bose noise canceling headphones. They were SINGING to the records with abandon. Dude at front desk said he’d check it out, and then called me 5 minutes later and said he didn’t hear anything on checking our hallway. Snort. I told him to try again as my door was vibrating by this point to the party goers’ rendition of a song. He came up and I stepped out in my Verb bath robe and he seemed pretty pissed I was bugging him. He kept insisting he’d heard nothing. I told him I was shocked I even had to call, and why couldn’t the Verb walk the hallways every couple hours past 11pm on weekends to be sure things were quiet for paying guests trying to sleep. He seemed even madder and we seriously had words in the hallway at 3 am with me in a bathrobe because I guess he thought I was lying. It was pretty hysterical. You could hear the girls partying through the door still, but they weren’t singing at that point. He knocked on their door, and they were receptive to him and quieted down quickly after that. Their doggie got a good extra 10 minutes of barking out of him, and by 3:30 am we all finally tucked in. Next day my friend who had a room directly across from the main party spot was grumpy because she’d been Diet Coke deprived the previous night, and had not slept due to the huge noise of the hallway/rooms party that happened all around our rooms ( we were rooms 275/276 area. That’s not exact. Can’t remember our room numbers). My FRIEND apologized hugely for being bothered by the crazy noise, and she told me she dealt with it by wadding up some toilet paper into little ear plugs and slept on the edge of her bed as far away from the door/noise as she could. She had not called staff to ask for help because she didn’t want to be mean. I was gobsmacked. I love this place, I do. It’s the cool you need, and as a musician I appreciate the Vibe of the Verb. But I was so embarrassed by the training of the staff…, not all the staff, but it only takes a few to not follow through to make it weird. Some staff were just as kind as they always have been all our previous stays, but most just didn’t seem to want to be bothered. And don’t get me started on the maids shouting to each other in the mornings around 8-9 am, haha. I love you Verb, I’m happy for your success, but please support your staff better so everyone wins while staying at your awesome adobe. My older friend will never forgive me. I did buy her unlimited Diet Coke all the rest of our visit to Boston, and next time she gets to pick the hotel and I’m buying her fancy ear plugs, just in case. Since I’m typing this far and acting like I’ve had too much caffeine already, some cool shower curtains that don’t let water leak out on the floor and also do damage to the walls would be appreciated. That’s a minor thing. But, meh, thought you’d like to know. Stay cool, make your choices wisely and Mahalo nui loa for reading. Boston is such a cool city. Cheers.
