The Shine is Off Branson's Jewel The Chateau is a shadow of its former self. Once the best of Branson, it's beginning to show its age. I have been to the Chateau a few times since it opened. It used to be a really nice 4 star hotel. The difficulties encountered can likely be chalked up to difficulties in finding help, but not all of them. We started having problems at check-in. It is supposed to be at 4 pm and check out at 10. We showed up about a half hour early and let them know we were here and they said they would call when the room was ready. No problem, we're early. We did ask about going to the pool to wait but were told we couldn't cause we didn't have a room. By 430, no call. My son-in-law and daughter got there, went in and got their room immediately. So we asked again and finally they got us a room. We asked - hey, if you're charging to rent a room from 4 until 10, are you going to discount it since you weren't able to provide this? but of course, the answer was no. I can guarantee you if you ask to wait a couple of hours past check-out, you're going to pay for it. Also, they charge a minimum of $10 per day for parking, outside, no security. Parking garage is extra. For a hotel that isn't near a major airport, and, therefore, everyone drives to it - $10 a day is just gravy on top of the already high room rate. The room was OK but pretty dirty. Sitting on the club chair, you can see the thick collection of dust under the TV cabinet. (Room 636) It's impossible to miss. i figure if part of the room is dirty, it all is. I had a balcony king room. The balcony is hardly big enough for two people. Don't pay the extra money. The bed was clean and comfortable. The method of showering by using the wall mounted body wash, shampoo and conditioner dispenser seems like something a 2 star hotel would do. Are the little bottles and bar of soap too expensive on a $245 room? Also, evidently the maid service only comes when you ask for it. By the third day with no new towels we were out and re-using as best we could. No bedding change or fresh towels? Really? Staff is basically friendly. The housekeeping unit would be better off cleaning than checking their phones in the laundry. Overall, the staff seems new. No one seems to know what's going on. The bartenders are overrun with customers. I went to the Atrium bar a couple of times and they were closed before 10 - they sent me to the lounge, where there was one person trying to make drinks and serve tables. It was a nightmare. Took 20 minutes for a drink. And a $16 dollar mixed drink at that. The second night there were only a few people in the bar but it still took 10 minutes to get a drink, as the bartender didn't seem to know where anything was. I skipped eating at the Atrium this trip. The prices were way way high. Too rich for my blood. Spoke to a friend of mine who also went up this weekend, He got to the desk and was told he didn't have a room. But he had been charged for one! Still didn't get one and went somewhere else. My advice would be: Go to the Chateau if you like the view. Otherwise, pick something a little better for the money.

Ew This place is nasty… first, when we arrived at our room, it appeared that the floor had not been vacuumed. There were chips and some sort of blue clay all over the room. I let my husband convince me I was “looking too hard to find something wrong.” Next, I found a TP “dingleberry” on the bathroom floor. At this point it’s clear housekeeping did the minimal clean. The pool area was also very dirty. The pool may be a saltwater pool or it might just be full of pee and other bodily fluids. My husband went to the bar to get me a drink to help me relax a bit and for 2 drinks it was over $35! It didn’t even get me buzzed. We didn’t eat at the hotel because the prices were outrageous for the minimal options available. When we finally made it back to the room and got ready for bed, I pulled back comforter and top sheet and there were chip crumbs between the sheets! Please explain how this happens? My husband called the front desk and asked them to come change the sheets. It is becoming more and more evident that housekeeping did not clean the room. There were also car air fresheners in two of the air vents- one by the door and one in the bathroom. This is extremely alarming and makes me wonder what “smells” they are trying to hide. On our last night there we came back tired from exploring Branson all day and our keys wouldn’t work. We had to walk all the way back down to the desk to find out whoever checked us in, didn’t activate them for our entire stay… There was candy in two places on the 6th floor hallway that stayed in place our entire stay. Take that for what you will. They are likely still there. The door men and most of the staff was nice but that’s about the only positive. I will admit, we stayed here as part of a Bluegreen/Bass Pro timeshare preview so we didn’t pay as much as someone off the street did to stay here. With that being said, apparently the front desk was supposed to provide us with directions to Big Cedar upon check in and that did not happen. I’m disappointed in the entire experience and will not be returning in this lifetime.

Almost hits the mark Beautiful location and amenities. I really wanted to give them a 5 but there were too many things that were not good. The bellhops were super helpful with luggage, car service and directions. The pool was amazing and pickleball courts and yard games were a plus. The spa treatment was definitely my favorite experience. It was secluded and relaxing. They had a sauna and steam shower in the women's dressing room and a co-ed cooling pool and hot tub. I wish I knew ahead of time and would've brought my swimsuit. They did offer for me to come back the same day to enjoy. And now to the cons: The hotel is extremely dated and could use a complete renovation. Both the hot tubs (indoor and outdoor) were out of service. Several of the employees did not have answers to our questions and did not offer to find the answer or get back to us. We wondered if they were new. Several times we witnessed food & beverage managers degrading/belittling their staff in front of guests. These are things that should be handled private. After they left, we tried to give praise to the staff. There were not a lot of food options: 1 restaurant, a snack shop, and a deli that was open limited hours. There was no shop, like to buy Tylenol or floaties, etc. It was VERY expensive. We paid over $500/night. For that amount, I would expect the above things to be solved/improved.

Awful experience Honestly I wouldn’t stay here again. The food is horrific . Nobody at this hotel seems to know what they’re doing, the communication here is awful. We went to the movie theater go see a movie. It was locked so we had to go chase somebody down to actually see a movie. the Jacuzzis were absolutely filthy, they need to update the facilities. We wanted to get lunch near the pool the deli was closed. So I had to walk to the atrium to order our food they told us they would not bring it down to the pool. We had to wait for our food, so can’t enjoy your day outside have to work around their service they don’t work around the people that stay here.. It’s looking rundown and old. You have to request for your room to get cleaned, usually you opt out for the service. People that stay a hotel would expect the room to get serviced every day. Two stars because the bed was comfortable.

So outdated and disappointing I cannot believe how outdated this property is. I’m in shock actually. Don’t believe the good reviews. They are bought. The ones that only have 1 review. Or very few. They are bought by the property. There are a bunch of those that are fake. I cannot wrap my brain around the fact that whoever owns this beautiful spot has done such a disservice to it. Why would you not update this beautiful property? They are squeezing every dime out of it and not putting it back in. How can the nicest restaurant have the worst decor from the 80s? I can’t even get over it. Old gross silk flowers, old pictures, and old tapestries with the oldest furniture. Zero ambience. We ordered the Seabass and lobster ravioli and Caymus Cabernet and had a $350 bill. Nice food for an IHOP atmosphere. It has the potential for a gorgeous view but yet they do nothing with it. It’s so sad. Sad and disappointing are the perfect words for this property. I hope whoever owns this will read this. Please invest in this place. It could be really awesome!
