I Have Always Enjoyed Andersen's Pea Soup Inn but ... I first visited Andersen's Pea Soup Inn as a kid in the late 1950s. And while I still love it, the only thing they could do is to get a better handle on smokers that take more than just a little bit of liberty with their "No Smoking" policy. We just completed a 3 night stay. The room was spotlessly clean and housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping it that way. Our bed was made up immaculately, like something you might see in a design studio. The efficiency washbasin and shower/toilet room was comparably cleaner than just beyond clean. The room's A/C was very good but a bit on the noisy side. And while our balcony connected to the room next door, there was neither a rail separating the two ... nor did we ever see another couple sitting there. The fresh Danish pastries and coffee in their breakfast cafe were incredible and never ending. And while we did not use the pool, it was quite inviting and clean. The lovely hotel staff was just that ... wonderful. "Tom" was beyond accommodating and helpful, as was everyone else at the Front Desk. Our room was ready when we arrived and all was perfect ... ... but the nicotine smoke that woke us up every morning at 4 - 4:14 AM. I did inform (that's a nice way of saying that I complained to management about it) but was told that smokers are difficult to manage. I told the manager (not Tom) that in some hotels they automatically apply a $250 charge but credit it back if smoking is not detected. I was told that such a practice like that most times infuriates smokers when they check in ... .. like smoke waking me every morning at 4 AM infuriates me. But that was met with the only negative look I have ever gotten from anyone at Andersen's ... in all 60+ years I have been there. I suggest that when you book the room and check in you make it infinitely clear that in no way will you condone smoke penetrating a room that is advertised as "No Smoking". And I made certain to keep our noise (and TV volume down) in respect for the rooms around us. I'm sorry. But the "wholesomeness" of Solvang demands better adherence to hotels that specify NO SMOKING. This historic hotel really deserves better than an "Average" rating.

Everything was perfect from Staff to Room to Grounds! The room was large and comfortable with a private area patio overlooking the grounds. The grounds are neat and well kept. Putting green, Corn hole, and pool. Several patios with fire pit tables. Hot coffee and amazing Danish roll. Room was excellent especially for the price. Will return anytime I need to relax and unwind.

Excellent place to stay It's close to the freeway but far enough that the noise from the freeway doesn't bother one. Restaurants and gas stations are next door. The rooms have a full-sized closet, two large dressers, a fridge, a microwave, very clean water to drink from the faucet, a patio door connecting to the pool, a golf putting green, and breakfast consisting of pastries from Solvang, reasonably priced.

Pleasant Hotel Stay at Pea Soup Andersen's Inn My sister and her family wanted to go glamping at the Flying Flag Resort in Buellton, however, I chose to stay in a nearby hotel - Pea Soup Andersen's Inn. Easy scheduling and check-in/check-out. Friendly staff - quick and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised at the accommodations - no complaints. Nice pool area in the middle of the complex. Breakfast (fresh pastries, coffee/tea, juices, etc.) was set-up in a gazebo near the pool area. If you are in the Buellton/Solvang area and are looking for a reasonably priced hotel, then I would suggest a visit to Pea Soup Andersen's Inn.
