Wingate by Wyndham - Atlanta Buford

Needs a lot of work I stayed at this hotel 8 years ago and left it a great review, but it has gone downhill. It needs a lot of maintenance. Our toilet wobbled when you sat on it, the smoke detector was hanging down from the ceiling, the door had a gap in it (it would lock but not push closed fully), a piece of plastic on the corner of the wall was coming off, no exhaust fan in the bathroom, etc. The staff was very nice, but this place needs major work. Will not stay again.

Great location wonderful staff Awesome stay at this wonderful location - close to a nature reserve and the Mall. So convenient, and quiet and reasonable! Breakfast is also great. The staff are so friendly especially Kerri-Ann! Also the room was clean bed really comfortable- give 7 Stars out of 5!

Great option in Buford especially since it has be "re-freshed". I dont think you will be disappoitned You always want a clean room when you get to your hotel. It is such a relief to find the room in tip top shape. We had a "pure air room" and were very pleased. The hotel is listed as an Inn and SUITES. We had some wine and cheese in our room. We knew there would not be a cooktop etc, but were surprised with the lack of some simple things like - a few glasses, a bowl or two, and a knife or plates, etc. There was a microwave, fridge, and nice sink and cabinets. The exercise room was really above what I was expecting for a Fairfield Inn

BEDBUGS! Checked in Friday around 5pm, set our bags down in room #225 and came back @ 930pm. I travel a lot and always check mattresses for issues. I checked them at this time and found bedbugs, I showed picture to staff at front who immediately got manger. Staff gave me room #123 to check into. I check this rooms mattresses and found them filthy. I told them to just check us out we'll find another hotel. At this time the manager came back from "checking" room #225. She said the pictures (date/time stamped with video @ 934pm) were from another hotel and that there was no problem with their mattresses. She then haughtily informed me there would be no refund. There was no working with us regarding the issue, no apology, no serious review of the situation. Just a quick dismissal of anything regarding the issue. This qualifies as one of the most irresponsible, reckless and completely rude experiences i've had with any hotel ever. Bedbugs aren't necessarily dangerous but they will cost thousands of dollars to eradicate from your homes should you get an infestation. This needs to be addressed and travelers warned. Not horrible, but not great… Our stay was okay but I will likely not book here again. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was generally clean. Hotel is in need of general maintenance and more detailed cleaning. For example, the covers in the chairs in the breakfast area are all peeling off (see photo). Many things in the room were broken/in the process of breaking and/or poorly repaired (see photo of ceiling). There was black discoloration on the caulking in the shower and drips/stains on the bathroom door. When I got the hair dryer out of its little bag, it was covered in something sticky and had someone else’s hair stuck to it (see photo). We could here everything happening in the hallway, probably because of the way the door was installed - you could see light coming in all around it (see picture). The room fridge kept dripping water from the freezer on everything. Pool area was okay but the tiles could use a good scrub and the ceiling needs repaired. Breakfast was the most concerning and disappointing thing for me. The young man tending to breakfast was not wearing hotel ID and was dressed very casually. He would go from emptying trash to refilling food without washing his hands or wearing gloves. One of the waffle makers was broken but there was nothing there to indicate this, so people kept using it and getting terrible results. On our last day, my son filled a cup with waffle mix and half of it was a yellow watery substance. We didn’t use it. Both my kids wanted cereal but I wouldn’t let them use the milk because the fridge with the yogurt and milk was set at 61F and products were warm. It did appear they attempted to adjust it on our last morning there but it was still 60F. In summary, not the worst stay but some changes are needed and we will look for another hotel next time we come to visit family.
