Engadine is The Real Deal! I chose Asheville for my bday getaway, and booking Engadine turned out to be the gift I gave myself. Best. Gift. Ever. Set in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains, the Inn did not disappoint. We stayed in the Vineyard View Room, which was spacious, gracious, and totally indulgent. (I even bought an Engadine bathrobe as a SECOND gift to myself!) Our totally charming hosts, Rick and Tom, were available enough to be helpful without being intrusive. But one more essential comment about Engadine: breakfast! We were greeted each morning with an incredible two-course feast, casually but beautifully presented. This place is not only a deal, it’s the REAL deal. We’ll be back waaay before my next birthday!

Wonderful Stay My wife and I decided to take a quick few days and visit Asheville, NC for the first time. I decided on Engadine to get away from downtown and something more cozy. Rick and Tom are wonderful hosts and provided the perfect getaway for us in their beautiful Victorian home. The inn is decorated with marvelous antiques throughout. We stayed in the Vineyard View Room which was very spacious and nicely decorated. The king bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept very well. We did notice some traffic noise from the road below, but we slept very well as it was mainly quiet at night. Our breakfasts were delicious! if you're lucky, Rick will serve up his candied bacon. Damn that was good! Also Check out Tom's collection of old wood boxes throughout the first floor. I definitely recommend Engadine for a stay away from downtown Asheville (only 15 minutes away). There are also four cabins, though I did not have a chance to see them. We will visit again on our next trip to the area. Many thanks Rick and Tom!

Stay away from abominable Engadine Inn owners Tom and Rick Horrifying experience with Engadine Inn and Cabins’ owners Tom and Rick upon arrival at 6:55 PM on November 21, 2022. My husband and I had a reservation for the Blue Ridge Suite for 3 nights. I called a few minutes before arriving at the inn for clarification on directions, because it was dark and the Engadine sign wasn’t clearly visible. I was ridiculed over the phone by Tom who hung up on me. I called back and Rick answered - he too was very rude and belittling. When we arrived, I went inside to check in - Tom didn’t greet me politely as one would expect an inn keeper to do, except to say he needed my credit card for the balance. I went back to the car to get my card. When I returned, Rick appeared and said they were cancelling the stay, because they were offended by my asking for directions. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, after having driven more than four hours, and being turned away for a reservation that was confirmed and even already 50% deposited. Tom not only mimicked me, but when we drove away, he actually stood outside on the inn’s balcony and started gesturing rudely with his hands. I recorded him and the conversation, because nobody would otherwise believe his abnormal behavior. My husband wanted to return and address their unprofessional, abominable behavior, but I urged him to continue driving and find another place to sleep and stay. They weren’t worth it. I’d like to warn everyone to stay away from Rick and Tom and their inn. Tom and Rick definitely do not act as gracious hosts welcoming guests to Candler, even if their inn is only 3 stars.

Grumpy and Disrespectful We were treated poorly. The host was intimidating and argumentative, a stark contrast to our previous stays. Lodgings were excellent, however. I won't get into specifics but 3/5 is more than generous.

The Right Place In Asheville My room was spotless, and furnished with items of the same quality found throughout the building, an antebellum National Historic Landmark built a decade before the Biltmore Estate. The interior woodwork of building is as beautifully done as the work I found at the mansion on my tour. All three two-course breakfasts were delicious and imaginative. Hosts Tom and Rick know the area, and are there to help with advice on restaurants and places of interest. If you are in Asheville to see the Biltmore (as I was), start the experience at Endgardine.
