Dirty, Dirty Carpet We stayed here last year at the end of the season to give it a try. It has a great location directly across from our favorite beach. Our stay was "okay", so we booked for several days this July (2024). We were extremely disappointed. First, we were told on the phone when I made the reservation that we could not check in until 4pm and that they were very strict with the times. which was very inconvenient. We waited until 4pm and then checked in. The next day we noticed a LOT of people arriving, some prior to noon, and checking in. I asked in the office why we couldn't check in until 4pm. They said "oh you could have". So why were we told diffent? They didn't know why we were told that. Enter the room. The room smelled clean, heavy on the bleach but we felt assured the room had been cleaned. Yeah, not so much. The worst discovery was after we were walking around the room the next day in our bare feet. On initial glance the rug appeared "newer". But it was filthy dirty. Our feet were black from the ground in dirt in the carpet. In the light of day you could clearly see the path of grime from the door through the room. We bought a pair of flip flops to wear in there. I spoke to the person in the office and mentioned the carpet. They weren't very concerned with my complaint. She said the carpet was cleaned at the beginning of the season. I told them I wanted to speak with the owner or manager. I was told they would call me. That never happened. I would not recommend the "Jetty Motel" for multiple reasons. Conflicting check in instructions, dirty carpet, kitchenette barely stocked with dishes and flatware, sheets so worn you can see through them and they didn't fit the mattress very well. Oh, built up nasty grime in the bathroom. Photos attached don't fully show the condition of this room. The only thing this place has going for it is location and they charge way too much for that. We travel a lot and I do a lot of reviews. Some things can be tolerated but this was beyond acceptable. We've been going to Cape May several times a year for many years and have stayed at multiple places. Never seen anything like this.

Stay here whenever in Cape May The Jetty is on the south end of town. Has a nice dinner next door. The beach is across the street. Sunset pavilion is 20 yards away. beautiful beach. Family run place, pleasant to deal with, homey feeling. If you are on a budget this is the place. Not new , not a high-end place but it is clean, convenient and a bargain.

Motel Misery The only redeeming quality is location. It really is disappointing when owners of an establishment takes advantage by charging outrageous rates and delivers subpar service. They should be ashamed. Stained carpets and chipped tile. in addition, cheating a guest of maximum vacation time by having earlier than normal later check-ins and early checkouts. Staff not knowledgeable either. Better off with an air bnb.

Disappointing! First, I must say the staff was excellent! Friendly and helpful. The motel was a huge disappointment. The room was clean, but very shabby and in need of a lot of work. The condition of the room was depressing. Bathroom had some mildew and everything was old except for the shower curtain. Exterior corridor on second floor is deteriorating and spongy in places. My take on it is that the owners are raking in as much money as they can and spending as little as possible until they can knock the place down and sell the property. There is a lot up the street of a similar size for sale for $8 million. Overall, a disappointment! Will not return or recommend.

1/2 Block from The Beach This is one of the few remaining older style beach motels that has a great location and good staff. We walked less than a 1/2 block to the Cove beach and I really loved it. Other beaches are a short walk but also close. There isa nice pool on the property which my wife enjoyed but I go for the waves! Room service is very reduced due to COVID buy still a very good place to stay. Older but well kept. Enjoy, Gene H.
