Cape May Charm Hotel Review
We recently stayed at La Mer (our 3rd year in a row), and overall, it was a pleasant experience with a few noteworthy highlights and minor drawbacks.
Upgrades and Amenities
The property has undergone several impressive upgrades, especially in the rooms and restaurant. The new decor is modern and inviting. We particularly enjoyed the live music, which added a lovely ambiance to our evenings.
Room Experience
We stayed in a pool view room, which was really nice. However, I found the presence of two TVs unnecessary. The view from the room more than made up for it, though.
Dining and Beach Service
The service at the restaurants and on the beach was a bit slow, which was a minor inconvenience. The staff was friendly, but the wait times could definitely be improved.
Toiletries and Amenities
One area that needs attention is the toiletries. For a party of four, the bottle sizes (approximately 2oz) were insufficient—one shampoo, one conditioner, one body wash, and one body lotion. Also, no q-tips were provided, which was a bit surprising for a hotel of this caliber.
Exceptional Staff
Despite these minor issues, some of the staff stood out for their excellent service. Special thanks to Ireyna, Sara, and Shawn at the Pier House for making our stay memorable.
Final Thoughts
Overall, La Mer is a beautiful property with some great features. With a few tweaks, it could easily offer a five-star experience. I would recommend it for its lovely ambiance and friendly staff.

Horrible and sleepless Our stay was terrible.
Complained about our noisy ac. They mentioned they had tried to fix it and couldn’t get us another room.
Offering a 30 dollar food voucher for not being able to sleep for 1 week.
Realized upon leaving there was a woman that experienced the same issue.
The concierge did nothing to accommodate us for our inconvenience
For 6000 for the week and not being able to sleep it’s clearly unacceptable.
WiFi didn’t work in the room and kept going out.
Clearly their rating is far off

Beach Vacation Great Staff. Shannon and Donna at front desk were awesome. There were times at night when there was noise from other guests, but that is expected at a hotel on the beach.

Beach vacation Booked an ocean front room, not what I got. Staff was disrespectful and unprofessional, did nothing to help correct this. Also the rooms online are nothing like the actual room I was given - dirty, damp, outdated
