Mingin’ Manor We stayed one night and that was more than enough. The main staircase carpet should have given us a warning as what to expect, if you can’t keep the main areas clean and vacuumed then there’s no hope for the bedrooms. When we checked in we just put our bags in the room and went back out as we were going to a concert, if we’d have had a good look at the room we’d have walked back out and tried to find somewhere else to stay. There were hairs in the bed, on the pillowcase, quilt cover and on the quilt. The quilt itself looked ancient, it was grey and made of some grubby polyester tat, the only place for that is in the skip. The hairs continued in the bathroom, on the floor, sink and even in a drawer. Bathroom was big but again dirty and lacking any character. The upholstered chairs in the bedroom were grubby and dusty, the dust had even collected around the buttons. It also says a lot about the cleaning standards when even the walls are covered in a layer of dust!! Absolutely gross, would never stay again which is a shame as it’s a beautiful building and could be something spectacular, unfortunately it’s lacking any care and attention being paid to it.

We enjoyed hospitality with history. Huge comfortable bedroom in a Victorian manor house built on a grand scale. Very good value, because for the price we paid, we got so much. Big, beautiful grounds which we explored, with woodlands of ornamental trees including a giant redwood. Breakfast in stately rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. Food was excellent. Miskin Manor is also a piece of Welsh History, with evidence of this all around. Parking was right outside. We stayed two days, but we would have liked to stay longer and use it as a base for exploring. A big thanks to the helpful people there. Loved it.

Shame about the organisation Imposing building shame about the package. The star ratong system in UK is about the facilities offered by the hotel not by quality of service. Whilst the Miskin Manor has four stars, according to the web site, one must ask if they deserve that given that the gym and leisure centre is closed down, no doubt by the administrators We booked in for 3 nights dinner bed and breakfast. We checked in and made a booking for dinner, which we thought would cover us for the three nights. WRONG. Rule is you must book dinner slot each night as we found out on night 2 when we had no booking and 'not sure if we can fit you in'; but they did The dinner menu was exactly the same for al three nights. Its not a la carte but table d'hote. The first night we got presented with a menu without prices. We ordered 3 courses only to find that we had exceeded our allowance and was asked to return to the restraunt to pay for two sweets. So advice is if you are on dinner b& b check your food allowance because night 2 we got presented with a larger bill for exceeding our allowance. After making a complaint we did not pay for night 2 sweet and we had a credit for night 1 On our last night we knew our nightly allowance and we knew we had exceeded it by £3. So we asked for the bill and paid by credit card. The bank charges for the transaction must have swallowed up a fair portion of that £3 so one must ask the administrators what are they doing trying to sell the business as a going concern or for the sake of a few pence to gain goodwill The other rule that you should be aware of nothing can be charged to the room so any drinks for dinner must be purchased at the bar before hand Would I book again? Unless there is a dramatic change in management and the policy is more forward thinkin the answer is no. The qualty of meals for dinner was mediocre, breakfast buffet was chaos so the answer is no, no no

Grand time out We did not know what to expect but we’re pleasantly surprised. The Manor is delightful set in large grounds which have seen better days but there is only two gardeners. The manor itself has various rooms to dine in and sit for a drink they are lovely. We wandered around and found other empty rooms suitable for Weddings and conferences. What a fabulous place to have your wedding if an area for pictures could be secured in the grounds. I believe it was a wedding venue at one time. We stayed in the main house room 43 it was charming and the bed extremely comfortable. We had a large breakfast each morning well cooked and both evenings a chicken or fish dinner …we did not fancy burger! The waiting staff were friendly and one day we were seated by Molly! I did not get any other names. If the offer comes around again we will use it. The only thing was that the pool is closed indefinitely. That would be wonderful to use.Thank you everyone at Miskin Manor we had a grand time.
