Excellent stay with superior and very friendly customer service My husband and I stayed for 2 nights as a parent getaway and La Playa Carmel did not disappoint. The staff was excellent, and the complimentary breakfast was superior. We also enjoyed a cocktail (great cocktail menu) on their deck during sunset. It was in a great location where everything was walking distance and we could easily get in and out to park via the street to get out on a couple hikes. Highly recommend!

Excellent Stay, Romantic History, Friendly and near the Ocean. We cannot say enough about the beauty of La Playa Carmel hotel, the romantic history, and the kindness of the staff being so accommodating to our family. The hospitality made such an impression at the front desk in reflection of our La Playa Carmel experience. In addition to this kindness, we were given a guide to restaurants within Carmel-by-the-Sea, which we visited the recommended Sanctuary and had a very nice time. Afterward, we explored the lovely garden behind the hotel with our children (11 months, 5 and 7 years old) and the older ones appreciated the story of why the home at La Playa Carmel was built originally 100 years ago, as a gift from a husband to his wife. Also as an afternoon activity we walked to the beach just blocks away where people were flying kites, walking their dogs and relaxing by the picturesque sea. This was an excellent stay, we highly recommend La Playa Carmel and their wonderful staff. Thank you Tricia for such excellent hospitality and La Playa Carmel for the sweet, memorable experience.

A Carmel Gem! We stayed here for my birthday this year in a patio room that opens out to the beautiful grounds and pool. We had stayed in this room type before and enjoyed the convenience to the pool since we use it alot. The pool was perfectly heated and very relaxing. We enjoyed a nice breakfast there in the terrace room. Staff is accomodating and friendly and the location is perfect, in a quiet residential area in Carmel. :)

Great Service The service here at LaPlaya was amazing. Alan and Michael were the most accommodating and nice young men! The dinner shuttle was a great amenity. The rooms were very small and need some updating. It would be nice if the bar/restaurant was open earlier than 3 pm. We would have preferred to have an appetizer or lunch there, but needed to leave the property to do so.

Outstanding hotel in Carmel I have heard about this hotel for years but the comments don't do it justice. The gardens and the facility are gorgeous. Old world charm and we love it! Two things I would mention: no AC and the breakfast is included. You may have said that in the materials but we overlooked. It was cool when we were there so not an issue but in warmer months might be. There is a fan in the room which was more than sufficient. Breakfast buffet was delicious!
