Hillside Boutique Hotel

SCAM ALERT: They changed their cancel policy with NO NOTICE and kept one night's rate as a penalty. FRAUD ALERT: LIARS AND THIEVES I did not stay here! DO NOT STAY HERE! I'd give zero stars if I could. I booked a room at Hillside Boutique Hotel in March 2024 for a three night stay in April 2024, through AAA. (I used AAA because their membership rates were $20 cheaper per night). The hotel’s website cancellation policy had the exact verbiage as AAA’s website cancellation policy on the day I made the reservation. The policies on both websites clearly stated you could cancel within 72 hours of your arrival with NO penalty and with less than 72 hours notice, there would be a one night penalty fee. I cancelled my room with MORE than 72 hours notice yet was charged $371.28 for ONE night penalty. The hotel refuses to refund my money. The hotel CHANGED their cancellation policy AFTER I made my reservation, stating there are no cancellations allowed and there would be a one night rate cancel fee. The hotel sent an email to AAA one minute after I made the reservation stating there is no cancellation allowed during the time of my reservation. No email was sent to me. I spoke to the hotel manager, Michel Stephens, who admitted they changed their policy on hotel’s website, but “wasn’t sure when”, but knew it was after I made my reservation. He told me he'd call me back to discuss more. I never heard back from him. After leaving numerous messages for him, I then contacted the general manager, Penny Herring, via email (because she wouldn't take my calls), who also refuses to refund my $371.28. The hotel manager stated it is AAA’s fault because their website policy was wrong. However, it is the hotel’s responsibility to let any third parties know if their cancellation policy changes. At the time of booking, both websites stated you could cancel within 72 hours WITH NO PENALTY. How can they just change their policy when it suits them best? Beware of making a reservation! WHAT A SCAM!

Staff went above and beyond Our stay at the Hillside Boutique Hotel could not have been better. The hotel staff went above and beyond accommodating our needs (as we needed a handicap room)! The room was beautiful and offered a great view (especially seeing the Fourth of July fireworks).

Much needed rest .. Nice quite place. A little different than most Hotels - This is a special find. Close to everything Castroville. Just a nice weekend away with a nice bed to stay. Everyone I spoke with was just a nice as they could be. Will definitely stay here again. There was a wedding party staying at this same hotel and we never even realized it until we saw the bridal party walking around. They were most respectful. Great venue for just about anything.

Lovely and Quiet Oasis The hotel is absolutely lovely. The staff were very friendly and our entire stay was wonderful. The room was fresh and the bed comfortable. Beautiful travertine floors and old world charm. Despite being next to a VERY busy road, it was quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend!

Wedding weekend! We stayed here the weekend of our wedding. Our venue and ceremony was also on site. Just the right amount of space for our event. The views are amazing and the staff is the best! I definitely recommend this hotel for any events or even just to get away for the day or weekend. They have a spa on site as well and although I couldn’t get to it I have heard it’s amazing. My guests had so many compliments of the venue and the hotel itself and how beautiful it is. The food was absolutely amazing so don’t forget to try their Bistro. Our wedding weekend was perfect thanks to Hillside Boutique!!
