Lvd This hotel is way past its prime! It needs to be torn down and or gutted. The ac/ heater didn't work, TV had lines going thru it, holes in the curtains, bathtub drain was broken. The pillows were flat and the bed was lumpy. I won't be back!

A fair and balanced review,,the good and not so good The Good: the room is quite clean, and everything seemed to be in good working order. Attractive lobby and easy check in. Pool area is beautiful at night. They even thoughtfully have blown up beach balls and a few cute pool noodles to play with. Also, the location of the hotel seems to be in a safe and convenient place. The not so good: although the front desk attendant gave me directions on how to find my room and even a map, my kids and I had a tremendously difficult time the layout in the way the rooms are numbered didn't make a whole lot of sense. That wasted 15 minutes driving round and round. I had to actually call the front desk to get more clarification. We knew the pool was closing quickly, BB didn't know is that we would get over to the gate and they would have locked it it could 20 minutes before I was supposed to close. After all that aggravation I was livid. Fortunately, the man who locked it early was very kind and unlocked it for us and even brought us some fresh towels at store not to use. The pool is very nice in her fridge unfortunately, it was certainly wasn't peaceful as there was a large group sitting out by the Gazebo smoking like Chimneys. In fact, the whole evening we observe people just sitting and breezeways and standing on the sidewalk smoking like chimneys. The hotel is really poorly to sign for somebody that has a disability. I have a disability parking pass, and that was the one start in the whole lot. That's also very little Lighting in the parking area which made it impossible to find stuff in my car the ice machine was out of water, but luckily they knew that and had a sign telling us where we can go to instead. Beds are very small and not very comfortable. Overall, this appears to be a good value Choice, with a few caveats.

Mr. FIRST time and LAST time!! All Chapel Hill hotels booked up except this one! What is it about these exterior doors to open balcony hotels that brings out the worst behaving people? Went to bed at 10pm at 11:30 there were people running thru the balconies yelling and screaming! Not sure if they were playing, fighting or trying to murder someone!! This place is a dump! A/C is uncontrollable, to hot then to cold! Everything else in this room was old and shabby. Knock it down and build a new classy interior hallway hotel with elevators not stairs!

Just What We Needed We had driven our RV from SD to NC on our annual family vacation. We parked the RV with relatives in Asheville so that we could more freely move about for a couple of days. On a side trip to Chapel Hill, we stopped at the University Inn. The kids were tired and wanted to unwind and swim. From making the reservation to interaction with the staff to relaxing by the pool, we spent two carefree days there. The two rooms were very clean and had up to date furnishings. One of the other things we liked was that the hotel was themed after the Tarheel sports tradition and had murals on the exterior walls and banners and paraphernalia in the lobby. We really enjoyed our time there. If your travels take you through Chapel Hill, I highly recommend that you stop here.
