Hmmm. Maybe keep looking. We had a sub-par experience at this hotel. We did not realize that it had been newly renovated and never closed during renovation. It had good reviews on-line and the photos looked nice so we gave it a shot. It turns out the reviews were probably for the previous hotel design and ownership. The location was not bad and we could walk to everything. The hotel and rooms are very clean. However, the newly renovated rooms were dark and there were quirky things that made us take pause. Most rooms are on the busy street side so they are noisy at times during the night. The reception staff was underprepared. The hotel bar is very small. The bartender was exceptional and offered great suggestions for what to see, where to eat, and other city insights. She was the best thing about the experience! The hotel lobby is much too bright at night. No television in the bar for sports fans. No information provided in the rooms about TV channels or check-out, etc. You order your continental breakfast via a QR code and it is delivered to the lobby as a carryout. Hotel parking is across the street and outdoors. Overall experience, just odd.

The Ansonborough Hotel. Our new favorite! Highly recommended! Hotel was conveniently located to everything downtown Charleston offers. Accommodations and staff were excellent! We chose it primarily because it was pet friendly, but we would stay there again regardless. It was a nice boutique hotel with all the charm!

Great experience, would recommend Very convenient location, unique hotel and hotel rooms, friendly staff, clean all around. The rooftop was a pleasant surprise. Loved the idea of the hidden poker room to pay homage to Captain Anson! The breakfast options were ok; the complimentary breakfast was nothing special. Would have been nice to have delivery to room as an option.

I’d look elsewhere. Good location. Overpriced. Cool rooms and loony with high ceilings and industrial feel with exposed beams. They charge for parking and don’t clean the rooms unless you ask at which point they still didn’t clean our room. There’s better options.

Great location - terrible service Upon arriving to the hotel, two gentlemen (hotel staff), who I'm assuming were bellhops, were sitting outside on their phones. They barely looked up at us as we unloaded our car. No greeting or offer for help with our luggage. As we were pushing up our FULL luggage cart to the entrance door, another hotel staff member went inside directly in front of us without holding the door. I'm not exaggerating when I say she was RIGHT in front of us, letting the door shut in my husbands face while he was pulling the cart. He said "oh thanks!" to bring it to attention which resulted in her coming back to open the door, stating she didn't see us. Its a load of crap. She was standing outside the entire time we were pushing our cart up the ramp. Our first few minutes at this hotel set the precedent for the service we would receive. The hotel staff could use a lot of improvement with their service and how they treat guests. Its a shame because the hotel and location are great. Also, if you are traveling with pets, be aware the treat bag I received for them had bugs in it. There's also very little green space in this area for pets to relieve themselves.
