Charming and comfortable stay Visited with my husband and daughter and stayed in the back carriage house for 2 nights. Everything seemed freshly painted and updated, perfectly clean and great AC. It’s a small and beautiful old building within easy walking distance of a ton of attractions like city market, the pineapple fountain and waterfront. I made an error booking and didn’t realize till we arrived that there was 1 bed for the 3 of us…we were fortunately traveling with an air mattress and had plenty of space in the room to set it up. I heard the front desk also saying they had air mattresses available for anyone in the same predicament. It was very quiet, everyone was wonderful, and I just loved taking breakfast in the little front sunroom or parlor. Parking is also very easy and convenient in a lot right behind the inn, so we didn’t need to tote luggage far. We would definitely come back!

Great B&B Very lovely B&B. Would definitely stay there again. Food was very good, very friendly people. We only stated 1 night, a King size bed would have been great. The courtyard was beautiful, they take a lot of pride in caring for all the plants and flowers.

Wonderful B&B! My daughter and I made a quick trip to Charleston to look at the city before she decided to move there after graduation. December was a perfect time to visit because of the Christmas lights and decorations around the city, the cool weather, and the light crowds! The Barksdale House Inn was fabulous, and I am so glad we chose this inn at which to stay! We booked a room on the top floor, and although some reviews claimed it was a bit cramped, we found it to be perfect with just enough room for us two, with beautiful decor, a cute bathroom, and ample room for all our traveling stuff. The bed was very comfortable. There was a Keurig coffee maker in the hallway on our floor just outside our door, with a variety of coffee and teas from which to choose, along with creamers. It was so nice being able to get a hot cup of tea after a long day of walking around Charleston! Snacks are also provided on the main floor hallway all day. In addition, the top floor is very quiet, and considering this house is very old (but beautifully renovated), we were surprised at how quiet our room was. The breakfast was super delicious and filling! Best B&B breakfast I've ever had. There was an abundance of choices, but we chose a fruit, yogurt, granola and honey parfait for starters, and a large slice of toast with avocado, easy over egg, and bacon for the entree. Delicious coffee and juice. The second day I tried their grits, and it was equally delicious! No buffet here, they take your order and bring it to you in the sun room or living area. The staff were friendly, and with the locked doors at night, I felt very safe staying there. We parked in the back parking lot and basically left our car there all four days because the Barksdale Inn is located in a walkable area, and if I tired of walking, we were able to hop on the free metro bus to circle around. Charleston is a beautiful city, and when my daughter moves here later this year, my husband and I plan on staying at the Barksdale every time we visit!

Excellent location in Charleston Our arrival did not get off to the best, as the access road and car park was flooded. The staff were excellent and coffees, cake and fruit available all day added a nice touch. The room was clean and tidy but the en-suite was dated and did not have anywhere to put our toiletries. Good breakfast freshly prepared and cooked. This Inn is in an excellent location close to Meeting St.

Excellent B&B We stayed here for 2 nights in late May and found the Barksdale Inn to be excellent in every way. It has everything from very attentive staff, lovely well decorated rooms, on site parking and good breakfast. Special thanks to Alecia on reception and Bea on breakfast who surprised us with her Yorkshire accent. All in all a great place to stay in Charleston and would thoroughly recommend it!
