Nice hotel in a great location My husband and I stayed here this week during our first trip to Charleston. My husband arrived the evening before me and checked into the hotel. He did warn me of a strong musty odor in the room. When I arrived, I also noticed a large wet spot in the carpet and water dripping from the ceiling. We called the front desk to see if there was anything that could be done about the odor and wet carpet. We spoke to the manager on duty, I believe her name was Jennifer, and within minutes she had us upgraded to a new room including a refrigerator, which we had requested previously. The rooms are very spacious and we heard no outside noise. Beds are very soft but were fine for us the 4 nights we were there. The location of the hotel is within walking distance of tons of great restaurants, bars and shops. We also used the pool and the gym facilities which were both well kept. The staff were all very nice and super accommodating. We would definitely stay again if visiting Charleston.

Go somewhere else We stayed from July 10-16. Let's start with the good. Breakfast crew were great, they were on top of everything. There was a volleyball camp for 3 days and my boyfriend overheard one of the employees, "we need all hands, it's busy out there". Food was always there and I always saw the same woman refilling the food. Bed is nice. It was very comfortable. Area is central, easy to walk to everywhere. Now the bad. The pillows, they gave us 2 each and it was soft as heck. Normally I am used to a hotel that gives you a firm and a soft. Both were extremely soft and felt like they should've been thrown away ages ago. We asked for 2 firm pillows 3x. Three. Times. We checked in on the 10th early, around 2 PM. At 9 PM my boyfriend gets a call from possibly the manager asking if we are checking in. He says we're in the room already and he goes down to talk to the manager, friendly woman and tells as is, we're here and asks for 2 firm pillows. He also tells her not all the channels work and she said it must be because of the service and it was the first time of her hearing that. This service... was our whole stay. For some reason, all the channels worked in the morning but after 4 PM, not all the channels work. Unsure what service they have but I overheard front desk stating that the computer wasn't working earlier. Housekeeping to clean the room. We stayed 6 nights. They came 2x and only because we caught them outside our door and reminded her. The first day we walked in on the 10th, there's an envelope with "your housekeeper is Iris R. If she does a good job, please give a tip" On the 11th, we get back from to the hotel at 3 PM and room is not clean. My boyfriend sees her a few doors down and asks her if she is cleaning out room. She said OK but few we spoke to, did not speak English. Not an issue as Google Translate helped later during our stay. We go downstairs for an hour since it was so hot. On the 12th, room not cleaned. I start noticing a trend so my boyfriend gets a roll of toilet paper. On the 13th, not cleaned again. I go down and ask for towels and toilet paper. I try to tell front desk that the room was not cleaned (yet again) and she interrupts me. Funny how the desk says 100% happiness guarantee? They clean on the 14th only because my boyfriend spoke to housekeeping again and she sounded confused. We go to the lobby again so they have time to clean and the housekeeper goes ohhh room service! What was the best? On the 15th, our last night, a housekeeper named Jennie knocks on our door at 10:15 AM to ask to clean our room. I tell her 45 minutes which was when were going out. We come back at 3 and the room is still not cleaned. I see on the list that it states "45 minutes' on the room list. No time. Just 45 minutes. Someone comes knocking on the door at 3:30 and we refuse the room to be cleaned as we already requested extra towels from front desk and toilet paper. We pretty much did their work for them. We asked for extra towels, tissue box and toilet paper. Used towels were on the side, folded nicely. Not once, not once did front desk ask why we were asking for so many items. The walls are quite thin. We heard the neighbors TV all night on right and across the hall. Housekeeping seems to vacuum the hallway at around 8 AM. You don't need an alarm clock! Considering they don't even start to clean the rooms until checkout which is around 11. The building is a historic building. I understand they cater more towards College of Charleston parents or students for orientation and people who don't stay long. It needs a renovation. The A/C worked better in the morning than at night. We set it at 70 degrees every night but somehow it went up to 74 every night. It was 70 when we were woken up by the daily vacuum. Someone came around to ask guests how their stay was. Unfortunately, I guess we were busy eating so he didn't come to us. I would've loved to tell him. We stayed here because Boston Seaport Hampton Inn was a good stay but this Hampton Inn is a stark difference. Another reason for staying was we got a deal from Expedia. Now we know. Stay at another hotel.

Fabulous location where you can walk to everything Ideal location where you can walk to everything and great restaurants around the corner. Cute pool, good breakfast, rooms are a bit tired but fit in with the historic area. Staff are simply amazing and very kind and helpful. Ask for a room on the second floor or higher as first floor is a bit noisy. Across the road from the Charleston visitor centre which is very helpful.

Stay somewhere else. We left a day early to get out of here. Our room 214 was hot. It never cooled down. There's no mini fridge, which was surprising, it's been a long time since I've stayed in a room with no fridge. Breakfast area was completely full, nowhere to sit, food kept running out. Our room smelled bad, probably because there was no air circulating. Our room's toilet ran all night. The parking garage keys don't work- and you have to pay $35 for that parking. The parking garage is a hassle. Nothing about this hotel stay was good.

Nice place to visit Great visit in 2023. The hotel is very nice and located conveniently within walking distance to lots of shopping, restaurants, and attractions. Parking is not free in the garage. The breakfast bar was really good. Staff were super friendly.
