Terrible Experience The hotel was under renovation but that was no problem at all. Our stay, we had a family group and had 3 rooms, was a disaster. The room was filthy, crumbs all over a chair, coffee spills on the furniture, no coffee pods, the phone didn’t work, the bathtub had black gunk on it and one of the tvs couldn’t get the regular channels. When we called with the numerous complaints they said they would be right up but never showed up. After our first night we had our make up the room sign out and they never came. When we called they said they forgot to clean it and brought us towels but then left. Without a doubt this was the worst stay I have had in years. We had problems with all 3 rooms and the effort to correct the probe were terrible. Of course, there was no talk of adjusting the price so it was a complete mess. We will never stay with this chain again!

Little extra goes a long way! We checked in late afternoon on may 26th...on a motorcycle and with a monster rain storm following us...dangerous storm. We stopped at The hampton....and they said no parking under their canopy...we just wanted our bike out of the heavy storm...no deal...we left...got to this HIE and not only did they allow it, they TOLD us to be safe and park under the canopy. The 2 ladies working were awesome...there is some construction going on but didnt affect our stay...this is a great HIE and it shows the people who work there make them the best mid level chain!

Beware-major construction I reserved the room knowing the inn was undergoing refurbishment. However the extent of disruption to me as a guest is extraordinary. The room I was given was 90% complete, but a lot of unfinished work. The parking situation is a disaster. Most of the parking spaces are consumed by equipment and storages containers to support refurbishment, the remaining spots are consumed by construction crews trucks and trailers— it cannot be navigated without multiple turnaround and backing up. No housekeeping services were provided. No ice machine works on any floor. The lobby is in major construction. The elevator is slow and with the construction workers it is very long waits. The stairwells are filthy with trash and construction debris. The sofa in the room was stained, so for a new room it was a surprise.

Stay somewhere else Bare minimum acknowledgment from check in staff. As I was walking to elevator I see a sign no wifi in rooms, lobby hotspot only. Leaving for dinner I looked at the pool I had hoped to use, door was locked. When I asked front desk about it I got “um, I think it’s closed for maintenance”. While at dinner I read the reviews here and see that neither Wi-Fi or pool has been available for some time. They should not include amenities in their ad that have not been available for more than a month. There was no mattress cover on the bed, only a sheet, no Kleenex in bathroom only bath tissue. A milky looking substance seemed to have been squirted and dried on the bathroom door, 2 lightbulbs in the room were burned out. Poorly done wall patching. Just not what I expect from a usually consistent hotel chain. Stay somewhere else !

DIRTY HOTEL, RUN DOWN, BED BUGS I am not one to normally complain but the last experience I had at this hotel really set me off. This past week I stayed at the Holiday Inn in South Charleston, WV for a business trip. Upon arrival there was a post saying that the WiFi was not working, which provided a major obstacle to do my job. However that was only part of my problem with this stay. The whole hotel in general is quite a mess, run down, dirty, and needs just some basic maintenance. For spending $150 a night my room was far from worth it. The walls had damage and holes through out it, the smell of the room appeared to be a cross between cigaret smoke and mold, and the bathroom had clearly visible water damage around the shower and the bathroom fan was not functional allowing steam to build up with nowhere to go. In the room, a lamp was broken/missing one of its on off switch so the only way to turn it off was to just unplug it. The room was also infested with ants throughout. I found them on the desk and on the opposite side of the room by the nightstand and even on the sofa chair in the corner. The worst of it all is on my last night there I woke up with 2 bites on my stomach, to my horror, I moved my mattress to find a bed bug exoskeleton….. I was furious. When I spoke to the front desk lady about my issues, she was completely unapologetic and offered no sympathy. She never even muttered the word sorry once and instead got defensive and rude. Even after completing a survey with a bad review and asking to be contacted by the hotel manager, all I got was a copy/paste response plus a one line poorly written sentence I can tell they actually wrote. Again there was no apology, compensation offer, or recognition of my disgust with their hotel.
