Needs Exterior Pressure Wash and Architectural Details What’s lovely about this hotel is the interior and service. What’s particularly ugly are the dark rain stains on the outside of the structure and the lack of architectural ornamentation on the windows, soffit, etc.

A Truly Beautiful Resort but has serious personnel flaws This Hotel was beautiful, well maintained and everything outside of the check in process was not good but exceptional. The pool, the dining, the valet and all its staff were again exceptional. The hotel was clean, and most importantly the rooms itself were exactly what I had wanted them to be. Unfortunately, the check in process was terrible and everything about it needs to change. The check in process which sets the tone for everything was so poor that we almost had to leave. We booked our reservation via Amex Travel. We selected 2 beds and a rollaway cot. This reservation was booked several weeks in advance. Our reservation was confirmed with Amex, and I even called the Hotel with American Express on the phone to confirm the booking and I spent time reviewing the reservation directly with the Ballantyne Hotel. As we arrived, we were greeted by Jasmine. She reviewed our reservation and notified us we could not have the room because they cannot accommodate 5 guests or a rollaway bed. I explained to her that we booked this with those credentials and we even called prior to arrival and she kept repeating herself, she even told us she sees the request in her system. I explained with her our reservation and she told us we needed to contact American Express because this is not a Ballantyne error but an Amex 3rd Party error. Here I am with 3 kids and 14 hour car ride and she is telling me at the time of check in that this room can’t be provided and she sent me off on a mission to fix things with AMEX. I asked why wasn't my reservation looked at prior to my arrival and she had no answer, after all this is a Luxury Hotel. She then continued to tell us that the Fire Code would shut down the hotel. She gave me 2 options, 1. Book a second room at full price or 2. Go somewhere else, that was it. Looked me in the eyes without a care in the world and was ready to send my family off, she didn’t even care that most places were booked. I felt that if I slept in my car that night she would have been fine with her decision. I did not agree with her options and I was getting a bit frustrated so she called in her manager Jason. Jason repeated the same things Jasmine had said. But he had much more compassion to our situation, and clearly positioned himself as a real manager, he atleast gave us options. Jasmine told us she was a manager but I certainly question her credentials. So again, 3 kids 14 hour drive and my wife is searching for a new hotel. Why wasn’t my reservation looked at prior, I kept asking everyone? Why didn’t they notify me when I called them to review my reservation prior to my arrival that my reservation cannot be fulfilled? Why are they blaming AMEX and even worse me! It wasn't until things on my end got heated where Jason offered it at 1/2 the price. We were not having it, we were looking for another place to stay. All we wanted to do was check in our room, go to the pool and relax. Jasmin took that away from us, and to be honest so did the Hotel. Jason finally decided to give us the second room as he noticed nothing in the surrounding areas were available. I would have paid for the second room gladly, if my reservation was reviewed prior to my arrival and when I called in and things were explained to me as I make my preparations. Not after the fact. Jasmin was rude, obnoxious and honestly patronizing. She truly needs to shadow Jason more or go back to training. To allow a family to leave your establishment due to a Hotel error is something so deplorable that I can’t fathom a manger making a decision like this one. I am still shocked how she would have sent off my family so easily. Again Zero care in the world.

Give it another year, then might be worth the money Honestly didn’t live up to the hype. Paid extra for a balcony room overlooking the golf course. First room had a balcony contiguous with the roof with a huge spotlight. One call to the front desk got us a room 2 floors up with a better balcony situation. However golf course was under construction so not really worth the money. Also very disappointed that the spa was booked weeks out. We specifically chose this hotel to spent our last night to wind down and pamper ourselves after a week of travel. Poolside service was nice.

Best hotel in Charlotte! This is the only place to stay when visiting Charlotte! We felt like we were home when we were there. The management and staff's positive attitude reflected in every guest there. Everyone was smiling, polite and talkative. Alan, the food and beverage manager, made our stay one of the best service experiences at a hotel we've ever had. From remembering our 3 year old's name to coming over to say hello when he saw us and making sure our stay/food/pool etc. was perfect. We felt like we had a friend who truly cared about our stay and experience. A great guy and huge asset to the hotel! I typically don't take the time to write reviews as I feel a satisfactory stay is part of what you pay for at a hotel but I couldn't let this visit go without saying that it really was next level for hotel service!
