Stunning historic building with spectacular gardens The Duke mansion is a historic building in the Meyer park in Charlotte. A spacious park like setting with tree lined streets. The mansion itself is stunningly beautiful, from the grand entrance and hallway to the solarium where the breakfast was. Our room, facing the front on the second floor (311) was spacious with a large bathroom. Very comfortable and well appointed. Service was good and friendly and the breakfast excellent. Coffee and other refreshments on the second floor are a nice feature, we’d like to get a coffee in the room before breakfast. The garden is stunning, with many nooks and alleyways, full of flowering hydrangeas. We spent an hour there in the evening and another one in the morning after breakfast. Some good restaurants in walking distance is a nice feature.

Historic, Classy, Comfortable My wife and I stayed here for three nights in late April,’21. We enjoyed it very much and would stay here again without hesitation. The mansion is well-located, an easy drive to downtown Charlotte and within walking distance of several good restaurants, including one we where we ate the first night of our stay called Napa on Providence. Parking is provided on site. The neighborhood around the mansion is called Myers Park, and area laid out by famed urban planner John Nolen in early 1900's. It was a very exclusive area and still is, with beautiful mansions set along wide curving streets. Duke bought the original mansion and greatly expanded it to the version it is now. The gardens, though reduced from the early grounds, are beautiful and well-tended by a professional staff supplemented by neighborhood volunteers. The property is now managed by a foundation and in addition to the guestrooms it serves as a popular venue for weddings and other gatherings. Even if you aren’t staying here the mansion welcomes visitors to wander through the grounds. Service and comfort seem to be the main goals of the management and both are met admirably. This is one of the most enjoyable places to stay we’ve encountered in our travels. The staff was uniformly friendly, welcoming, and highly skilled at their jobs. Our room (#308) was on the top floor with a small dormer window overlooking the beautiful gardens. It was very large, with two walk-in closets, a writing desk, bureau, an upholstered reading chair with floor lamp, and two night stands on either side of a comfortable king bed. The decor was simple and tasteful. The bathroom was large and had a vanity with plenty of counter space and drawers for storage. The glass enclosed shower was also large. There were three minor problems which were hardly deal-breakers: the showerhead faced the stall door and thus prevented turning on the water before entering; the bathroom door was slightly warped and wouldn’t shut entirely; the room’s ac unit was difficult to regulate and somewhat noisy at night. Breakfast was included and was served in one of the elegant dining rooms with views of the gardens on three sides. Service was top notch, as was the food. Special requests, like my wife’s for a glass of milk and for extra cut fruit, were easily accommodated. All in all we enjoyed staying here very much – it was a very good place for our three-night visit to Charlotte, and we recommend it highly.

Our favorite hotel in Charlotte We are back traveling. It has been too long. We are not ready for air travel yet but travel by car works. We have stayed at The Duke Mansion many times. It is our first choice when traveling to Charlotte. This time was a little different. Covid 19 rules were in place. We felt safe. The staff was very warm and welcoming as always; however, breakfast was delivered each morning to our room. The staff announced themselves and left our meal on a serving tray at our door. The hotel and grounds looked great. My wife and I can't wait until our next trip to Charlotte and another stay at The Duke Mansion

Wonderful service! But watch out for noisy events. My husband and I stayed here for one night which was lovely. We loved walking through the quiet neighborhood to dinner. Eat at the Thai place. The mansion is beautiful and very clean. We would have stayed two nights except we discovered there were going to be events there so we went to another hotel for the second night. I did not like our room because it was on the third floor and I found it claustrophobic. I suspect that rooms on the lower floors have bigger windows and you don't have to duck to get under the doorway. A woman at the front desk named Jimmie Bryan was FABULOUS. It's because of employees like her that make this hotel great. She was gracious, joyful, kind and patient. The garden here has some spectacular specimens of flowers and is so peaceful to walk through. I will stay here again if I can have a non third floor room and know that there will be no events while I'm staying there.

Girls trip It was beautiful. The gardens are breathtaking. The porch was so comfortable. Bedrooms are gorgeous. The staff was remarkable. The food for breakfast was a choice of many different things which was great. The kitchen and staff were very nice and kind and helpful. Learned a lot about The Duke family and the history of the Duke Mansion. The front desk gentleman (in the morning)and the young girl(in the evening) were very helpful. Meeting the Ray’s was the highlight of the trip.
