Disgusting "5" Star Resort The pictures, website and cost of this place are all a complete joke. This place is disgusting, falling apart and dirty. One example, the lounge furniture in the entire pool area is so gross, they try to cover when the pool boy puts towels all over them for you. This place needs a $50MM renovation top to bottom. I tried to move to the Chatham Bars Inn but it was full. A disappointing experience is putting it lightly.

Luxury Falls Short: My Disheartening Experience at The Wequassett Resort My recent stay at The Wequassett Resort, which is marketed as a 5-star luxury destination, left much to be desired. Despite high expectations, the experience was underwhelming, particularly with the quality of our room. Upon arrival, the grandeur of the resort's exterior and common areas initially impressed me. The staff were courteous, and check-in was smooth. However, the moment we stepped into our room, the disappointment began to set in. The disappointment was further exacerbated by the fact that we were there for 3 nights for our son's wedding which was being held on the property. The room, unfortunately, did not live up to the 5-star standard one would expect from a resort of this caliber. The furnishings were outdated and worn, giving the space a tired and neglected feel. The carpet was worn in places, the decor seemed to be from a bygone era, lacking the modern touches that make a stay feel luxurious and comfortable. One of the most significant issues was the condition of the bathroom. The fixtures were old, and there were visible signs of wear and tear. The shower lacked water pressure, and the tiles showed signs of wear as well. The lighting in the bathroom was horrendous. This was not the pristine, well-maintained environment we anticipated from a top-tier resort. Additionally, the amenities in the room were basic and insufficient. The room also lacked adequate soundproofing, making it difficult to relax with the noise from the neighboring rooms and the walkway. The resort's facilities, such as the pool and dining options were satisfactory but did not compensate for the subpar room experience. While the staff were friendly and somewhat attentive, it was clear that the resort needs significant updates and renovations to meet the standards expected of a 5-star establishment. I shared our experience with the manager who did try to make things right by refunding us a night's stay, but that does not make up for the fact that we were placed in a subpar room while they knew we were there for the wedding. I would have expected to be a priority and given one of the updated rooms on the property. In summary, The Wequasset Resort has potential, but it is currently falling short of its 5-star promise. The outdated and poorly maintained rooms significantly detract from the overall experience. Until substantial updates are made, I cannot recommend this resort to those seeking a truly luxurious stay.

Overall good stay. Room noise was an issue. The resort, staff, & restaurants were all excellent. Our room was clean and modern. Our issue with our room on the ground floor of the Rose unit was poor soundproofing from the room above. The sounds of loud clomping around and of the creaking floor made it difficult to sleep. It’s definitely worse than average in this regard. However, I would visit again, while insisting on staying in one of the one-story buildings or on the second floor.

So disappointing!! Gorgeous grounds, lovely location. So many hydrangeas!! But the room I had, #69, was not nice. First thing I noticed upon entering was the heavy, musty smell. Ugh. Then I noticed how dated and damaged and dirty the room was. Wallpaper seams were peeling, mildewy grout in the bathroom, dead bug in the shower. Gross!! Poor lighting in the bathroom and no mirror in the bedroom. Putting on makeup was a nightmare. And since I was there for a wedding, it mattered. The tacky, smelly, dirty room was bad enough for $1000 per night, but the bed was unbearably uncomfortable. No exaggeration. I had been looking forward to a weekend of luxury and ended up tired and feeling embarrassed and like a chump for spending so much money for mediocrity (at best). I will never stay there again and will never recommend it to anyone.

Late check out for certain AE card holders. Late checkout (4:00) for AE card holders is SO unfair for incoming guests. Check in time for arriving guests is 4:00 which make it IMPOSSIBLE for housekeeping to clean the rooms. Late check out should be NO LATER than 3:00 which would be really helpful to both incoming guests and housekeeping. Late checkout out at 4:00 is selfish and inconsiderate. AE needs to fix this!
