Best Hospitality Experience in a Hotel My girlfriend and I had to leave an Airbnb nightmare and find a new place to stay for our Chattanooga getaway. We came to the Dwell Hotel on a whim looking for whatever we could get. Ben was so nice and super attentive to our needs. We explained our situation and welcomed us with some drinks and got us a really nice suite. The retro vibe was nice, but the customer service was the best, hands down, that I’ve ever received in a hotel. They just immediately make you feel like family from the get-go. They even made sure we had a brunch reso on our check out day so we werent rushed for checkout. Highly recommended. Very impressed.

Amazing in everyway!! Our first trip after our Covid vaccine. I booked our 3-night stay because of the funky vibe but never expected to be treated so well. Right from check-in and our welcoming cocktail this boutique hotel treated us like we mattered--something you don't always get at a chain. Each day we were greeted by either Harrison or Ben who could recommend a restaurant, great hiking, the best burger or even where to look for Mid-Century antiques. Everything was within walking distance or a short drive. For breakfast we had Ocia's blueberry pancakes and the potato hash, which were amazing!! Look at the photos of where breakfast is served--it could not be any cuter. We have been thinking of moving to Chattanooga even though this is our first visit to Tennessee. We spent 10 days in the state traveling around with a move in mind leaving this Chattanooga stay for last. We split our time doing some touristy stuff, hiking close by and looking for areas that we might want to buy a home. Harrison was able to help direct us to neighborhoods and areas since he has lived in the area for a few decades. So yes, after our short visit we have decided we want to land in Chattanooga and are planning to return this autumn. Fair warning Harrison and Ben--Jim and I are coming back and we are bringing friends.

Very nice rooms Cool hotel with few, but spacy rooms. Unfortunately not able to check out late, even though being a Marriott Titanium Elite member. Enjoyed the bar. Very good location, too. Free electric shuttle bus through the city.

BAD SMELL AT THE DWELL In forty years of travel - a fair amount on business, and a lot of personal travel - I have never experienced the rudeness and indecency provided in spades by the Dwell Hotel. Over three weeks ago, we booked with the Hotel - my husband thought it looked interesting and fun - for our first ever trip to Chattanooga. We've traveled extensively through the south, but had never visited Chattanooga. We upgraded to what I believe was their best room - a king suite. So imagine my surprise when two days before we were to arrive, I received a call from the manager wanting to "discuss options." They had recently booked a group for the other 15 rooms (could we have been their only reservation otherwise? - apparently so), who wanted the entire hotel and our room in particular. I indicated that was not acceptable, and specifically said no. Five hours later, an email was sent - making the outrageous claim that "our concern is not about the other group having priority, but rather about your comfort." A BLATANT LIE. Supposedly the group had a "private event going very late" and they didn't want us to be "disrupted." ANOTHER LIE. So they intentionally CANCELLED our reservation. Being shoved over to another hotel is NOT what we asked for. It was a lie that they wanted to discuss "options" - because we were given NO option to HONOR the reservation that we had made weeks ago. I have been to many hotels where during a convention, and due to large hotel overbooking, we were relocated. But NEVER in my life has a valid guaranteed reservation been intentionally cancelled so a hotel could give a room to another guest weeks after you had made a reservation. This is a small hotel. You would think a small boutique hotel is all about customer service and caring for their clientele, but my experience with the "BAD SMELL DWELL" is precisely the opposite. In fact, no large, or small, hotel, has ever treated me so poorly. And mind you, the manager was quite rude, condescending and a consummate LIAR about their intentions. WE KNOW WHEN WE'RE NOT WELCOMED... Chattanooga, is this what "Southern Hospitality" is all about? THE STENCH OF RUDENESS and LACK OF HOSPITALITY is why there is a BAD SMELL AT THE DWELL. Fortunately, we had options, and extended our stays in lovely and welcoming Asheville and Oklahoma, where people are truly welcomed. As ambassadors of Chattanooga, for us it is "ChattaNOGO" - we will never visit the city, courtesy of the rudeness of the DWELL.

Like the Hotel California This place is like the Hotel California or The Shining. I’m not sure if you aren’t allowed to leave or will just never want to leave. This place has an amazing throwback vibe, with every suite designed with a different kind of retro (we had the Tropicana suite with balcony). They have two restaurants/bars: the solarium and Matilda midnight. One is a sunny, brunch-like daytime vibe. The other is a dark, smoky night vibe. The solarium has great brunch and amazing spicy bloody Mary’s. Matilda Midnight does a lot of classy appetizers and dark liquor drinks. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, however be careful to specify if you want a quiet room. Our room itself was GORGEOUS, however it was near the stairwell and apparently under a housekeeping room, so there was a lot of disruptive noise. Noise is easily conveyed in this old rebuilt beauty. The staff was always kind and accommodating (and diverse, which was refreshing), and we were greeted at the door with cocktails. Valet parking top notch. This place is full of class and unique vintage furniture and art. You’ll never find another place like this in Chattanooga.
