Holiday Inn Chicago – Midway Airport S by IHG

Clean room and timely shuttle The shuttle service worked well for us even with a flight delay and a need to return to the airport the next morning to retrieve our luggage. The room was clean and updated. The desk was kind enough to supply us with a toothbrush/toothpaste as we arrived without our luggage. The beds were on the firm side and the noise from other rooms(dogs barking, yelling) was audible throughout the night.

Nice room, horrible parking fees The good. I thought the room was good size. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean, check in was easy. The shuttle was perfect for us. Driver was awesome. The bad. I was on the 5th floor facing the street and it was very loud. Restaurant was not open but what really gets me is the fees I was charged for parking. The app you pay for was going to charge me $43 for 1 nights parking. I was standing at the front desk as I was trying to pay for it and I asked the lady and she said oh it wasn’t working properly, she could just charge my room. When I got home I was the charge on the app did in fact go through for the amount of $43. Now when I checked out I was told I would be emailed a receipt. I never got one but the charge was again around $40 more than I was told the room was. So I am trying to get my money back but I’m sure it will take lots of time to get this extra $80+ back. Hotel says it’s brand new online. No way.

Close Stay New Midway - But Pick Another Got stuck in weather cancelations and got a room at the cheapest option. The airport shuttle arrived in a reasonable time and organizing my return trip to the airport was easy. The hotel was clean and very quiet. After dealing with the air travel issues I was in need of a drink. The hotel bar was not open, a bit strange in the middle of the summer, but I get it. The hotel has staff shortages or something. The hotel did offer beer and wine in the "store" section most hotels are doing these days. Also a bit strange for a hotel that is so close to the airport and I am sure deals with frequent cancelations and guests without their luggage; just to have a tooth brush and shaving needs. Deodorant and mouthwash would have been nice to included, again due to the hotel being so close to the airport. In hindsight I should have stayed at the other Holiday Inn, a bit north of where this hotel is. There is a small grouping of other hotels in that area, and as such they have a more routine airport shuttle. I saw two come and go from Midway as I was waiting for my shuttle (also a bit confusing both are Holliday inns?) Also in driving past the collection of hotels they have more restaurants and bars within walking distance. Unfortunately this hotel is walkable to a lot of fast food options and one restaurant/bar that was so poorly rated via yelp I didn't risk it. (Not their fault their location is what it is but something to be aware of when picking it.)

Poor airport shuttle service Landed in Midway airport and called hotel to send the airport shuttle to come pick me up. After waiting 30 minutes I tried calling the hotel again only to be put on hold multiple times. After waiting 40 minutes I gave up and took a taxi to the hotel. Upon arrival I was told by the front desk staff that ‘the shuttle’s been running back and forth to the airport all night’ and was then asked if I was in the right spot? I fly in and out of Midway every week. I was in the right location, the shuttle just never came. A airport hotel needs reliable shuttle service which this hotel doesn’t have. Other than that the room was nice and clean, lots of road noise from the main highway though. I would suggest earplugs and getting a room on the side of hotel not facing the highway.

A Good Affordable Choice Near Midway Airport !!! I stayed in this hotel for one night the night before a flight out of Midway Airport. I have stayed in some other hotels in the area and found that most are run down and over-priced. This IHG property is one of the better reasonably-priced hotels in the area. it's newly renovated, has great staff attending the front desk, a fitness center where you can get a good workout and a burger restaurant attached to the property. Check-in was seamless and the elevators were in service. My room was clean and seemed very modern with a good amount of outlets and USB ports for charging my devices. The heat and AC unit seemed to work well and since they were fairly new, they were not that load. My bed was very comfortable and I got a good night's sleep. Connecting to wifi was fairly easy and the wifi signal was strong enough for me to stream videos, check email and use other web-based programs. Overall I have a good stay and got a good night's sleep. In the morning I had a nice long shower with plenty of hot water. I also checked out fairly quickly and the hotel emailed my bill. I had a problem-free and worry-free stay. I would most certainly stay here again.
