Amazing building, vaguely irritating hotel. So, a couple things. The reason to stay here is because you want to stay in the historic Reliance building, or it's right on the blue line, or whatever. But the specifics about this particular hotel chain are kind of meh. The main annoyance is the sneaky $30/day mandatory "amenities fee", which you can't opt out of, and included stuff like having a mini keurig in the room and wi-fi, which most places just include in the room price. Pineapple should do the same, and just be transparent about it, and not claim that they're avoiding nickle-and-diming guests on fees; hello, if it's a required fee that you can't opt out of, it should be in the ticket price of the room rate. Second, some of the extras are kind of weird--like, they make a big deal out of their bedding system, but who wants bedding that has to come with instructions? Life is complicated enough. There was also a little stuffed animal in the room....that came with a $25 "adoption fee". Woe to the parents that didn't notice that before their kid glommed onto the thing. And happy hour deals at the bar were not only a little odd, but the one food option on offer (a burger) took about a half hour to appear. Snacks in lobby offered for purchase were both pricey and not very wholesome, which is a pain because there arent really other options in the vicinity once the kitchen closes. Check in staff were lovely.

Ideally located. Ideally located in The Loop. We walked to all the top tourist sites. Friendly staff. The Atwood bar and restaurant is on the ground floor and serves good food which is not outrageously priced. You also get a complimentary drink from the bar on arrival. Rooms were clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. It’s also only a two minute walk from Washington station on the CTA blue line which only costs $3 to and from O’Hare.

Delightful and friendly This delightful and well situated hotel in the Loop felt like home for a few days. Every staff member we encountered was warm and welcoming from the valet to the room attendants to the front desk and bar staff. The little touches - cookies and coffee in the afternoon, pineapple decor - were all perfect. And the beds were cloud-like with wonderful European style duvets. The hotel is in a beautifully renovated heritage office building, with enormous windows and terrific city views. Loved everything about this stay and will definitely look for Staypineapple hotels in the future!

Service wins The service here was exceptional! Darnell at the front desk went above and beyond- He is consistently friendly, easygoing, helpful, and kind! Staypineapple has a gem in him! My only critiques would be that the room was not as clean as usual (details can be provided, if needed), the TV did not work for us again, and the phone was not connected to allow for outgoing calls. However, because of the personalized service (Darnell!) - it is very likely that we will be back. My two daughters had even mentioned before our visit that they hoped that "the nice guy at the front desk" would be there!
